Targets for Waste Recycling
New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. We at Norris Great-Malvern acknowledge these targets and here they are: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. The agency strives to control environmental pollution and promote the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources. There is more! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. With the telephone number – 08708 506 506, you can contact the Environmental Agency head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or contact their office in your region. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. From the recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. By 2010, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. To help make the landfill directive achievable and recover waste, the following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000: 45% of all waste should be recovered by the end of 2010, 67% of waste should be recovered by 2015, while 40% of waste be recovered as of 2005. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. Below are the targets: By the year 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted. The target projects that, as of 2010, 30% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, and local authorities were set at 30% both by 2005. The government, in its quest to reduce waste, for landfill diversion, and to assist local authorities in more recycling, has issued a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Recyclable materials were listed, which include: wood, vehicles, clinical waste, building materials, composting, printer cartridges, batteries, paper, computers, plastic, glass, furniture, oil, metal, electronic and electricals, and so on. To keep yourself updated on any of the latest additions to the targets, especially for the upcoming years, you can visit the Norris Great-Malvern office at Great-Malvern.

Regional pricing – skip hire costs differ by location, it could be higher or lower. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Great-Malvern. How long you want to keep the skip will affect the price of the skip. The longer the period of time you intend to keep it, the more likely you are to pay a higher amount. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in Great-Malvern
Skip hire is not always easy, you have to get the right one, and there’s more stress if you need a permit- we know all of this at Norris Great-Malvern. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Great-Malvern. We are also aware of the increasing population in Great-Malvern, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
The duty of care for people who manage creating, bringing in, movement, storing, treating and removing controlled waste is specified in section 34 of the act. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. However, it’s our duty at Norris Great-Malvern to make your skip hire a smooth process. We also provide skip hire permit procurement along with skip delivery to make the whole process stress free. When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Medical waste, gas canisters, air conditioning units, heavy duty batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, television sets, refrigerators, and aerosols are prohibited from being in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
There are recycling targets put in place by the Environmental Agency and government. We at Norris Great-Malvern acknowledge these targets and here they are: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. Some government organisations and local authorities are tasked with the job of meeting their targets and making sure other environmental services available get to needed locations. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. It doesn’t stop at that! They also provide enlightenment for people on better waste control methods such as recycling household waste. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. Only 75% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2010. Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. The government released a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to assist in the recycling and reduction of waste and landfill diversions. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
