To better meet these targets and provide other environmental services to areas in need of them, the agency partners with several other organisations and local authorities. The Environmental Agency continuously strives to improve water, land, and air quality. Animals, plants and other natural resources, as well as environmental pollution, are conserved and controlled respectively by them through effort implementation. It doesn’t end there! Among other things, the body enlightens the general populace on environmental issues, promotes the recycling of household products to decrease their piling up in large quantities, and educates on raising the standards of waste removal. Call 08708 506 506 to connect to the head office of the Environmental Agency, located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD or just visit their office in your region. A landfill directive has been released in relation to Government Targets. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: By 2015, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 40% of waste as at 2005 should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered by 2010, while as of 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered. The government published the natural recycling targets by the Waste Strategy 2000. These targets include: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, and local authorities were set at 30% both by 2005. To assist local authorities in recycling more waste, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, the government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Recyclable materials were listed, which include: wood, vehicles, clinical waste, building materials, composting, printer cartridges, batteries, paper, computers, plastic, glass, furniture, oil, metal, electronic and electricals, and so on. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
There a couple of factors that should be taken into consideration when hiring a skip. At Norris Shoreham-by-Sea, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Shoreham-by-Sea. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Keeping in mind there are time limits on skip hire permits too. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. You have to find out if there are limitations from your skip hire service provider. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Shoreham-by-Sea
The process of hiring a skip is often difficult, especially if you want to get a skip hire permit as well. We know about all of these difficulties at Norris Shoreham-by-Sea. Issues to be considered when hiring a skip in Shoreham-by-Sea are local council laws, red routes, double yellow lines, narrow paths, congestion zones, small front space, pedestrian only lanes and red routes. At the rate at which Shoreham-by-Sea is growing in population, skip hiring will become more and more difficult. You can avoid the stress of hiring skips and getting permits by hiring our waste disposal service instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. To acquire the permit, all applicants need to show they are fit to hold it. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
You need a skip hire permit if you want to hire a skip for a construction project and will have to place it on public land. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. You can use your own land or space without a skip hire permit if you have it, only ensuring you don’t cross into land that isn’t yours. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. However, it’s our duty at Norris Shoreham-by-Sea to make your skip hire a smooth process. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Items such as medical waste, aerosols, electronic appliances, gas canisters, heavy duty batteries, television sets, and fluorescent light bulbs are not allowed in our skips.

For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Shoreham-by-Sea and you can find them below: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used in landfills in the UK by 2015 shouldn’t exceed 35% of what was taken in 1995. In 2013, only 50% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
The targets for natural recycling were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. They include:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. The government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to help local authorities recycle more, reduce waste, and for landfill diversions. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
