For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. Norris East-Grinstead experts recognize these targets, which are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the protection and improvement of the environment in Wales and England. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. The agency strives to control environmental pollution and promote the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources. That’s not all! Among other things, the body enlightens the general populace on environmental issues, promotes the recycling of household products to decrease their piling up in large quantities, and educates on raising the standards of waste removal. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Skip hire pricing factors need to be well considered before hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris East-Grinstead and we are going to make them clear to you. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in East-Grinstead. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Some items are prohibited from being put in the skips, find out what they are, and obey the restrictions so you don’t get a fine or sanction.
Issues with renting skips in East-Grinstead
At Norris East-Grinstead, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in East-Grinstead: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. We know that the growing population in East-Grinstead will mean a more difficult skip hiring process soon. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
For “controlled waste” deposit, recovery and removal regulation, a new waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act in 1994. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Skip hire permits are required when you intend to use a piece of land you don’t own to place the skip. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. We make it our business at Norris East-Grinstead to make skip hiring easy for you. We can get you a skip hire permit and deliver the skip you hire to save you stress. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.

So, if the skip you require is a closed or open one, we can be trusted to provide it along with proof of quality and efficiency. Several waste types are allowed in our skips at Norris East-Grinstead. However, we have restrictions on the kind of items that can go in our skips. If it is safe enough, we can take those items from you and get them treated. The prohibited items include medical waste, automotive oils and fluids, car tyres, plasterboard, gas canisters, aerosols, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, heavy duty batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. We at Norris East-Grinstead acknowledge these targets and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The aim of the agency is also to make sure the quality of land, air and water gets better constantly. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used in landfills in the UK by 2015 shouldn’t exceed 35% of what was taken in 1995. In 2013, only 50% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
