Waste Recycling Targets
For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. We at Norris Artington acknowledge these targets and here they are: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. Several other local authorities and organisations work with the Environmental Agency to achieve its aims, and to provide other environmental services to areas in need of it. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. That’s not all! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. By 2013, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The Waste Strategy of 2000 contains the natural recycling targets published by the government. Below are the targets: The target projects that, as of 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 25% of household waste as of 2005, while each local authority was 30% in the same year. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Recyclable materials were listed, which include: wood, vehicles, clinical waste, building materials, composting, printer cartridges, batteries, paper, computers, plastic, glass, furniture, oil, metal, electronic and electricals, and so on. Regional pricing – skip hire costs differ by location, it could be higher or lower. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Artington. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Remembering as well that skip hire permits have a time frame and expiry dates. Issues with renting skips in Artington
We know at Norris Artington that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Artington: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. We know that the population in Artington is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. People who only do waste disposals from personal gardens were not included in getting the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. At Norris Artington, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? We include the cost of getting ski hire permits in our online quotes when you request them, which can be removed if you already have land or a place on which to put the skip. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
There are recycling targets put in place by the Environmental Agency and government. We at Norris Artington acknowledge these targets and here they are: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can visit them at their office in your region, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. You can also call them on 08 708 506 506. A landfill directive was released to address Government Targets. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. In 2013, only 50% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
The government published, in the Waste Strategy 2000, the following natural recycling targets:
No less than 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
