- 4 Yard Skip Hire Norris St-Martha also hires out 4 yard skips. The 4 yard skip is two times bigger in holding space than the 2 yard skip, and is 0.90meters long. It has more space for bigger materials, including electronic appliances, kitchen and bathroom refits, and even furniture, because it has a longer width of 1.5m by 2.5m. It is big enough to hold 45 to 50 black waste bags, and more than 17 barrow loads of waste. It’s ideal for house or garden clearance, and other DIY projects.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire The 6 yard skip is a very useful tool to have for home extensions and office renovation projects. At Norris St-Martha, we provide the 6 yard skip to carry any builders waste. It’s perfect for stashing away heavy waste and bulky materials like soil or stones. Its holding space can take about to 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or 30 full barrow loads of building dirt, as it has a width of 1.8m by 2.3m. You’ve probably noticed this skip a lot in your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire We also hire out 8 yard skips, which are best used for extensive projects. The 8 yard skip is very similar to the 6 yard skip, but it just has room for more items. The 8 yard skip is 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but surpasses the 6 yard skip in holding space by almost 20%. It has enough room for up to 100-115 full black bin bags, or 40 barrow loads of builders waste materials. It is ideal for large home removals as well.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire The 10 yard skip is the one you want if you’re doing a large scale removal or garden clearance. Available for hire at Norris St-Martha, the 2.1m by 3.6m wide skip is ideal for commercial projects. Waste Recycling Targets
The government and the Environmental Agency have set new targets to be reached by all recycling agencies. Norris St-Martha recognizes these targets and they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. They ensure that their targets are met while also offering other environmental services to areas that need them, by working with several other government organisations and local authorities. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. The agency strives to control environmental pollution and promote the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources. There are still other things! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. Get in touch with the Environmental Agency office in your location, or you can find the head office in Bristol Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. The directive released contains government targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK. The targets, as of the most recent year, include: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. Below are the targets: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. By the year 2010, 30% of household waste should be either recycled or it should be composted. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. To assist local authorities in recycling more waste, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, the government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, and so on, and a few others were included in the list of products to be recycled. To be up to date on any new entry in the targets, especially in recent years, visit the Norris St-Martha office at St-Martha.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris St-Martha, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in St-Martha. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Limitations and Restrictions – different skip sizes also have different weight limits. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Some items are prohibited from being put in the skips, find out what they are, and obey the restrictions so you don’t get a fine or sanction.
Issues with renting skips in St-Martha
The process of hiring a skip is often difficult, especially if you want to get a skip hire permit as well. We know about all of these difficulties at Norris St-Martha. Some of the issues with renting skips in St-Martha are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. With the rising population in St-Martha, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The regulation of waste deposits, and the recovery and removal of “controlled waste” is handled by the waste licensing system that was put in place in 1994, replacing the 1974 Control of Pollution Act. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. Personal garden waste disposal does not require the use of the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. However, it’s our duty at Norris St-Martha to make your skip hire a smooth process. We can get you a skip hire permit and deliver the skip you hire to save you stress. When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Whether you require a closed skip or an open one, you can count on us to deliver it with proof of its efficiency and quality. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. At Norris St-Martha, we accept various types of waste in our skips. But there are restrictions on certain products, and they are not allowed in our skips. We can collect such products and have them treated depending on how safe they are. Items such as medical waste, aerosols, electronic appliances, gas canisters, heavy duty batteries, television sets, and fluorescent light bulbs are not allowed in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. At Norris St-Martha, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The Environmental Agency aims to make sure the Englands’ and Wales’ environment can improve and is protected. There are many government organisations and local authorities that have the duty of making sure these targets are achieved and the services they have available get to the environments that need them. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. It doesn’t stop at that! They also provide enlightenment for people on better waste control methods such as recycling household waste. You can visit them at their office in your region, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. You can also call them on 08 708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. Beginning from the most recent year, here are the target: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. 25% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2005, although local authority was 30% in that same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
