Government Issued Recycling Targets
The Environmental Agency and the government have set recycling targets for some time now. We at Norris South-Yorkshire acknowledge these targets and here they are: The English and Welsh environment is protected and improved upon by the Environmental Agency. Several other local authorities and organisations work with the Environmental Agency to achieve its aims, and to provide other environmental services to areas in need of it. The Environmental Agency continuously strives to improve water, land, and air quality. The agency strives to control environmental pollution and promote the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources. There is more! Among other things, the body enlightens the general populace on environmental issues, promotes the recycling of household products to decrease their piling up in large quantities, and educates on raising the standards of waste removal. Get in touch with the Environmental Agency office in your location, or you can find the head office in Bristol Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. It reflects the goals of reducing the quantity of waste sent to landfill spots in the country. The targets, as of the most recent year, include: By 2015, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. By 2013, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also, some targets were introduced for waste recovery, and to help make the landfill directive achievable by the Waste Strategy 2000: 40% of waste as at 2005 should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered by 2010, while as of 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered. The government published the natural recycling targets by the Waste Strategy 2000. Below are the targets: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2010. By the year 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted and 30% was set for each local authority in 2005. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Recyclable materials were listed, which include: wood, vehicles, clinical waste, building materials, composting, printer cartridges, batteries, paper, computers, plastic, glass, furniture, oil, metal, electronic and electricals, and so on. To keep yourself updated on any of the latest additions to the targets, especially for the upcoming years, you can visit the Norris South-Yorkshire office at South-Yorkshire.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. At Norris South-Yorkshire, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in South-Yorkshire. How long you want to keep the skip will affect the price of the skip. The longer the period of time you intend to keep it, the more likely you are to pay a higher amount. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Make enquiries from your service provider on the limitations they might have. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in South-Yorkshire
At Norris South-Yorkshire, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Some of the issues with renting skips in South-Yorkshire are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. We know that the population in South-Yorkshire is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. Our waste management services are readily available if you wish to skip the whole task of skip hiring.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. People who only do waste disposals from personal gardens were not included in getting the license. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. It stated that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. There are skip hire permits that may cost as much as £60, £80, and up to £100 sometimes. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris South-Yorkshire. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. Contact us today on 020 8698 8000 to find out more about skip hire permits and other services we have made available for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. At Norris South-Yorkshire, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The aim of the agency is also to make sure the quality of land, air and water gets better constantly. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive was released because of Government Targets. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It further stated that, from 2007, landfills were to only take untreated waste. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: Only 35% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2015. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and landfill diversions. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
