Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. By 2013, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. The target projects that, as of 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or composted, and every single local authority was to be 30% in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and for landfill diversions. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Skip hire pricing factors need to be well considered before hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Much-Wenlock, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in Much-Wenlock. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Keeping in mind there are time limits on skip hire permits too. Limitations and Restrictions – skips usually have weight limits even with their sizes. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Much-Wenlock
At Norris Much-Wenlock, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Renting a skip in Much-Wenlock may come with issues such as local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, narrow paths, red routes, small parking space, congestion zones, small gardens, and double yellow lines. We know that the population in Much-Wenlock is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The regulation of waste deposits, and the recovery and removal of “controlled waste” is handled by the waste licensing system that was put in place in 1994, replacing the 1974 Control of Pollution Act. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. Personal garden waste disposal does not require the use of the license. To acquire the permit, all applicants need to show they are fit to hold it. Applications for new site ownership need to be accompanied by the Waste Management Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate as proof of “technical competence”.
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
You need a skip hire permit if you want to hire a skip for a construction project and will have to place it on public land. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. You can use your own land or space without a skip hire permit if you have it, only ensuring you don’t cross into land that isn’t yours. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. We make it our business at Norris Much-Wenlock to make skip hiring easy for you. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. We provide skip hire services along with permits that last for up to 14 days. We can be reached today on 020 8698 8000 if you want to know more about skip hire permits and other services we have in place for you.
Tested skips with certificate
If you’re using a skip hire service for the first time, you might be worried about how safe and effective the skip will be during use. We don’t just get you the skip size of your choice at Norris Much-Wenlock, we provide tested skips with certificates as well. Therefore, if you need a closed or open skip, you can rely on us to make it available to you with proof of efficiency and quality. We can be reached as well on 020 8698 8000, and our experts will provide any details you need. Another option is to come by our Much-Wenlock office and we will provide the tested skip you want with certificate.
Several waste types are allowed in our skips at Norris Much-Wenlock. A few items, however, are not allowed in our skips. We can provide you with treatment services for materials like that, depending on how safe they are. The prohibited items include medical waste, automotive oils and fluids, car tyres, plasterboard, gas canisters, aerosols, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, heavy duty batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. These targets are upheld by us at Norris Much-Wenlock and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. It specifies the targets needed to lower the quantity of waste removed to landfill areas in the UK. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The targets for natural recycling were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. They include:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
