Government Issued Recycling Targets
All waste management agencies now have some recycling targets to meet, which are set by the Environmental Agency and the government. We at Norris Shropshire acknowledge these targets and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the protection and improvement of the environment in Wales and England. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. The Environmental Agency encourages the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources, and controls environmental pollution by implementing certain efforts. It gets better! They also educate people on issues that are related to the environment, promote household product recycling to reduce its quantity, better waste disposal standards, and so on. With the telephone number – 08708 506 506, you can contact the Environmental Agency head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or contact their office in your region. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. By 2013, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 45% of waste is to be recovered as of 2010, while 67% and 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2015 and 2005 respectively. The Waste Strategy of 2000 contains the natural recycling targets published by the government. The following are the targets: By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, and local authorities were set at 30% both by 2005. To assist local authorities in recycling more waste, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, the government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. To be up to date on any new entry in the targets, especially in recent years, visit the Norris Shropshire office at Shropshire.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
There a couple of factors that should be taken into consideration when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Shropshire, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Shropshire. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. You have to find out if there are limitations from your skip hire service provider. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Shropshire
The process of hiring a skip is often difficult, especially if you want to get a skip hire permit as well. We know about all of these difficulties at Norris Shropshire. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Shropshire. At the rate at which Shropshire is growing in population, skip hiring will become more and more difficult. Our waste management services are readily available if you wish to skip the whole task of skip hiring.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The regulation of waste deposits, and the recovery and removal of “controlled waste” is handled by the waste licensing system that was put in place in 1994, replacing the 1974 Control of Pollution Act. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. Personal garden waste disposal does not require the use of the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are required when you intend to use a piece of land you don’t own to place the skip. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits for a lot more than £20, including £60, £80 and £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. At Norris Shropshire, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.
Tested skips with certificate
For first time skip hires, the worry is often on the safety and effectiveness of the skip during use. Along with making various skip sizes available to you, we also give you skips that have been tested and have certificates to show just that at Norris Shropshire. Closed skip or open skip, we can deliver whichever you want with proof of its efficiency and quality. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and our experts will be available to answer all your queries. You can also come by our Shropshire office instead and the tested skip you want will be provided with certificate.
At Norris Shropshire, we accept various types of waste in our skips. But, there are some prohibited items that cannot go in our skips. We can collect such products and have them treated depending on how safe they are. Items such as medical waste, aerosols, electronic appliances, gas canisters, heavy duty batteries, television sets, and fluorescent light bulbs are not allowed in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. At Norris Shropshire, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. It doesn’t end there! The body educates the public on environmental matters, like better waste removal standards, by promoting the recycling of household waste to reduce how much waste they have. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It specifies the targets needed to lower the quantity of waste removed to landfill areas in the UK. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. Only 75% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2010. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 25% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2005, although local authority was 30% in that same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and landfill diversions. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
