Waste Recycling Targets
For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. We acknowledge these targets which include: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the protection and improvement of the environment in Wales and England. To better meet these targets and provide other environmental services to areas in need of them, the agency partners with several other organisations and local authorities. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. There are still other things! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. With the telephone number – 08708 506 506, you can contact the Environmental Agency head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or contact their office in your region. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. It states the targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2010 be only 75% of the amount taken in 1995 The following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy of 2000 to recover waste and help in achieving the landfill directive: 40% of waste as at 2005 should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered by 2010, while as of 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. These targets include: By the year 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. The government, in its quest to reduce waste, for landfill diversion, and to assist local authorities in more recycling, has issued a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. At Norris Faringdon office at Faringdon, you will get updated if there are any additions to the above targets, especially in recent years.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Faringdon, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Faringdon. How long you want to keep the skip will affect the price of the skip. The longer the period of time you intend to keep it, the more likely you are to pay a higher amount. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – every skip can only take a certain amount of weight regardless of their size. You have to find out if there are limitations from your skip hire service provider. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in Faringdon
At Norris Faringdon, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Some of the issues with renting skips in Faringdon are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. We know that the growing population in Faringdon will mean a more difficult skip hiring process soon. You can avoid the stress of hiring skips and getting permits by hiring our waste disposal service instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The regulation of waste deposits, and the recovery and removal of “controlled waste” is handled by the waste licensing system that was put in place in 1994, replacing the 1974 Control of Pollution Act. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. To acquire the permit, all applicants need to show they are fit to hold it. Applications for new site ownership need to be accompanied by the Waste Management Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate as proof of “technical competence”.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. You risk being fined or having the skip removed and seized if you do not ensure your skip doesn’t cross out of your own land and into someone’s space. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits for a lot more than £20, including £60, £80 and £100. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. However, it’s our duty at Norris Faringdon to make your skip hire a smooth process. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Whether you require a closed skip or an open one, you can count on us to deliver it with proof of its efficiency and quality. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. At Norris Faringdon, a lot of different waste types are acceptable to be put in our skips. A few items, however, are not allowed in our skips. If it is safe enough, we can take those items from you and get them treated. These restricted items are automotive oils and fluids, medical waste, car tyres, heavy duty batteries, gas canisters, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, aerosols, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
Recycling targets were created by the Environmental Agency and government some time ago. At Norris Faringdon, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. Beginning from the most recent year, here are the target: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. Only 50% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2013. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
The targets for natural recycling were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. They include:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
