Targets for Waste Recycling
All waste management agencies now have some recycling targets to meet, which are set by the Environmental Agency and the government. Norris Kew experts recognize these targets, which are: The English and Welsh environment is protected and improved upon by the Environmental Agency. To better meet these targets and provide other environmental services to areas in need of them, the agency partners with several other organisations and local authorities. The Environmental Agency continuously strives to improve water, land, and air quality. The Environmental Agency encourages the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources, and controls environmental pollution by implementing certain efforts. It gets better! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive has been released in relation to Government Targets. It states the targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2013. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The government published the natural recycling targets by the Waste Strategy 2000. These targets include: The target projects that, as of 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By the year 2010, 30% of household waste should be either recycled or it should be composted. 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, and local authorities were set at 30% both by 2005. Local authorities can now be assisted to do more recycling through the government issued “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” which will also help reduce waste and landfill diversion. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. To keep yourself updated on any of the latest additions to the targets, especially for the upcoming years, you can visit the Norris Kew office at Kew.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Kewx, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in Kew. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – every skip can only take a certain amount of weight regardless of their size. Make enquiries from your service provider on the limitations they might have. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Kew
We know at Norris Kew that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. Issues to be considered when hiring a skip in Kew are local council laws, red routes, double yellow lines, narrow paths, congestion zones, small front space, pedestrian only lanes and red routes. We are also aware of the increasing population in Kew, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. Personal garden waste disposal does not require the use of the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. The local council office can provide you with the specifics you need on pricing. We make it our business at Norris Kew to make skip hiring easy for you. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? Our online quotes also include skip hire permit costs, which doesn’t matter if you have your own land or space on which to place the skip. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Kew and you can find them below: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They work towards the control of pollution in the environment and encourage the protection of natural resources like plants and animals. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. A landfill directive was released to address Government Targets. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It further stated that, from 2007, landfills were to only take untreated waste. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2005, although local authority was 30% in that same year. The government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to help local authorities recycle more, reduce waste, and for landfill diversions. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
