Targets for Waste Recycling
For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. Norris Hampton-Hill recognizes these targets and they are: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. It gets better! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. Call 08708 506 506 to connect to the head office of the Environmental Agency, located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD or just visit their office in your region. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states the targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. By 2010, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also, some targets were introduced for waste recovery, and to help make the landfill directive achievable by the Waste Strategy 2000: 45% of waste is to be recovered as of 2010, while 67% and 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2015 and 2005 respectively. For the natural recycling targets, you’ll find them published by the government in the Waste Strategy 2000. The following are the targets: By the year 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 25% of household waste as of 2005, while each local authority was 30% in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and for landfill diversions. Materials like batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, building materials, and so on, have been listed as recyclable. At Norris Hampton-Hill office at Hampton-Hill, you will get updated if there are any additions to the above targets, especially in recent years.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris Hampton-Hill, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional pricing – skip hire costs differ by location, it could be higher or lower. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Hampton-Hill. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – skips usually have weight limits even with their sizes. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Hampton-Hill
At Norris Hampton-Hill, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Hampton-Hill. We know that the population in Hampton-Hill is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. People who only do waste disposals from personal gardens were not included in getting the license. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. It stated that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. You risk being fined or having the skip removed and seized if you do not ensure your skip doesn’t cross out of your own land and into someone’s space. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits for a lot more than £20, including £60, £80 and £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. However, it’s our duty at Norris Hampton-Hill to make your skip hire a smooth process. We also provide skip hire permit procurement along with skip delivery to make the whole process stress free. When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
Recycling targets were created by the Environmental Agency and government some time ago. These targets are upheld by us at Norris Hampton-Hill and here they are: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. In 2013, only 50% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
No less than 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2005, although local authority was 30% in that same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and landfill diversions. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
