Targets for Waste Recycling
The government and the Environmental Agency have set new targets to be reached by all recycling agencies. Norris Newbury-Park recognizes these targets and they are: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. Several other local authorities and organisations work with the Environmental Agency to achieve its aims, and to provide other environmental services to areas in need of it. The quality of water, air, and land is continuously improved by the Environmental Agency. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. It gets better! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. The directive released contains government targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: By 2015, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2010 be only 75% of the amount taken in 1995 To help make the landfill directive achievable and recover waste, the following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. The following are the targets: By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By the year 2010, 30% of household waste should be either recycled or it should be composted. By the year 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted and 30% was set for each local authority in 2005. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. If you want to keep yourself abreast of new additions to the targets, especially in recent years, contact us at Norris Newbury-Park office at Newbury-Park.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
There a couple of factors that should be taken into consideration when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Newbury-Park and we are going to make them clear to you. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in Newbury-Park. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. You have to find out if there are limitations from your skip hire service provider. Also, make enquiries about products that shouldn’t be put in it. Obey these restrictions to avoid any sanctions or fines.
Issues with renting skips in Newbury-Park
At Norris Newbury-Park, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Issues to be considered when hiring a skip in Newbury-Park are local council laws, red routes, double yellow lines, narrow paths, congestion zones, small front space, pedestrian only lanes and red routes. We know that the population in Newbury-Park is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. You don’t have to worry about skip hiring and acquiring a permit, we can provide waste disposal services instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
For “controlled waste” deposit, recovery and removal regulation, a new waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act in 1994. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. Applications for new site ownership need to be accompanied by the Waste Management Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate as proof of “technical competence”.
The duty of care for people who manage creating, bringing in, movement, storing, treating and removing controlled waste is specified in section 34 of the act. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. There are also skip hire permits for a lot more than £20, including £60, £80 and £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. At Norris Newbury-Park we feel duty bound to ensuring you hire a skip without stress. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. Our online quotes also include skip hire permit costs, which doesn’t matter if you have your own land or space on which to place the skip. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

We can get these products from you and have them treated depending on how hazardous they are. The items we do not allow in our skips include automotive oils and fluids, medical waste, car tyres, heavy duty batteries, gas canisters, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, aerosols, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
Recycling targets were created by the Environmental Agency and government some time ago. At Norris Newbury-Park, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states that targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: Only 35% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2015. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. Only 75% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2010. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
