The Environmental Agency and the government have set recycling targets for some time now. Norris North-Kensington experts recognize these targets, which are: The agency charged with protecting and improving the English and Welsh environment is the Environmental Agency. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. It gets better! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive has been released in relation to Government Targets. Targets set for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the country is stated in the directive. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: Waste quantity taken to landfill sites should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2013. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. To help make the landfill directive achievable and recover waste, the following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The government published the natural recycling targets by the Waste Strategy 2000. These targets were: 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2015. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 25% of household waste as of 2005, while each local authority was 30% in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and for landfill diversions. Clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, and so on, and a few others were included in the list of products to be recycled. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
When hiring a skip, some factors will be important and need to be thought about and considered properly. At Norris North-Kensington, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in North-Kensington. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Remembering as well that skip hire permits have a time frame and expiry dates. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in North-Kensington
At Norris North-Kensington, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in North-Kensington. We know that the population in North-Kensington is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal regulation is handled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. It could be land that belongs to a third party, a federal highway, government road, or along the street. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. At Norris North-Kensington we feel duty bound to ensuring you hire a skip without stress. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. Contact us today on 020 8698 8000 to find out more about skip hire permits and other services we have made available for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. These targets are upheld by us at Norris North-Kensington and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can visit them at their office in your region, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. You can also call them on 08 708 506 506. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. Only 50% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2013. In 2010, only 75% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
The targets for natural recycling were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. They include:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
