Skip Hire sizes
At Norris Lower-Feltham, we have several sizes of skips for hire. Home removal or office, we have whatever skip size you’ll need. We have skip sizes as small as 2 yards for small DIY projects and as big as 12 yards for industrial projects. Our skips are in sizes 2 yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, and 12 yard.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire You can also hire a 4 yard skip at Norris Lower-Feltham. With a height of 0.90 meters, the 4 yard skip is able to accommodate twice the amount of the 2 yard skip. Its width of 1.5m by 2.5m allows space for larger products, such as kitchen and bathroom refits, appliances, electronics, and furniture. It has enough space for 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste. If you are thinking of DIY projects or garden clearance, this would be a splendid choice.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire This skip works perfectly for home extensions and office premises renovation projects. The 6 yard skip may be used to carry builders waste like soil and pavers stones, and is provided at Norris Lower-Feltham. It can be used to store cumbersome waste materials like soil or stones. Its holding space can take about to 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or 30 full barrow loads of building dirt, as it has a width of 1.8m by 2.3m. This skip is probably the most used around your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire If your building project is quite big, the 8 yard skip we provide would be perfect. It’s not that different from the 6 yard skip, but it has a larger holding capacity. It’s around 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but it can take almost 20% more than what the 6 yard skip can. 100-115 full black waste bags can be stashed into it safely, or 40 barrow loads of paving stones, bricks, concrete, slabs and soil. It is ideal for large home removals as well.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire For very big home removals or garden clearance, it is recommended to go for the 10 yard skip. This skip is 2.1m by 3.6m wide, and can be used for commercial projects, it can be hired at Norris Lower-Feltham. This skip has enough room for about 120–140 big waste bags, or 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste at any time. For larger building projects, home removals, and garden or site clearance, this is the skip to use.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire This is more like a small industrial skip. The 12 yard skip can serve for projects like site clearances, office clearances, and commercial projects that will require large amounts of waste disposal at once, and is available for hire at Norris Lower-Feltham. With a width of 2.5m by 4.0m, this skip is also long enough to contain 150–185 black disposable bags at any time. Government Issued Recycling Targets
New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. We at Lower-Feltham work towards the following government set targets: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. To better meet these targets and provide other environmental services to areas in need of them, the agency partners with several other organisations and local authorities. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. It doesn’t end there! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive has been released in relation to Government Targets. The directive released contains government targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also, some targets were introduced for waste recovery, and to help make the landfill directive achievable by the Waste Strategy 2000: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The government published the natural recycling targets by the Waste Strategy 2000. Below are the targets: By the year 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
When hiring a skip, some factors will be important and need to be thought about and considered properly. We at Norris Lower-Feltham understand these skip hire pricing factors, and we have decided to give you a brief explanation of each of them. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Lower-Feltham. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Remembering as well that skip hire permits have a time frame and expiry dates. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in Lower-Feltham
Skip hire is not always easy, you have to get the right one, and there’s more stress if you need a permit- we know all of this at Norris Lower-Feltham. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Lower-Feltham: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. We know that the population in Lower-Feltham is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. You can avoid the stress of hiring skips and getting permits by hiring our waste disposal service instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
For “controlled waste” deposit, recovery and removal regulation, a new waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act in 1994. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. Personal garden waste disposal does not require the use of the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. It stated that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. You don’t need a skip hire permit if you have your own land and won’t be intruding on government or third party-owned land. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Lower-Feltham. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? We include the cost of getting ski hire permits in our online quotes when you request them, which can be removed if you already have land or a place on which to put the skip. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. You can reach us now on 020 8698 8000 if you need to know more details on skip hire permits and other waste disposal services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
Recycling targets were created by the Environmental Agency and government some time ago. These targets are upheld by us at Norris Lower-Feltham and here they are: The Environmental Agency aims to make sure the Englands’ and Wales’ environment can improve and is protected. There are many government organisations and local authorities that have the duty of making sure these targets are achieved and the services they have available get to the environments that need them. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. The government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to help local authorities recycle more, reduce waste, and for landfill diversions. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
