Waste Recycling Targets
New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. Norris Ickenham recognizes these targets and they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the protection and improvement of the environment in Wales and England. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. Animals, plants and other natural resources, as well as environmental pollution, are conserved and controlled respectively by them through effort implementation. There is more! Among other things, the body enlightens the general populace on environmental issues, promotes the recycling of household products to decrease their piling up in large quantities, and educates on raising the standards of waste removal. With the telephone number – 08708 506 506, you can contact the Environmental Agency head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or contact their office in your region. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. Targets set for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the country is stated in the directive. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. For the natural recycling targets, you’ll find them published by the government in the Waste Strategy 2000. These targets were: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. The target projects that, as of 2010, 30% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and for landfill diversions. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
There a couple of factors that should be taken into consideration when hiring a skip. We at Norris Ickenham understand these skip hire pricing factors, and we have decided to give you a brief explanation of each of them. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Ickenham. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Make enquiries from your service provider on the limitations they might have. Some items are prohibited from being put in the skips, find out what they are, and obey the restrictions so you don’t get a fine or sanction.
Issues with renting skips in Ickenham
Skip hire is not always easy, you have to get the right one, and there’s more stress if you need a permit- we know all of this at Norris Ickenham. Renting a skip in Ickenham may come with issues such as local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, narrow paths, red routes, small parking space, congestion zones, small gardens, and double yellow lines. With the rising population in Ickenham, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
The duty of care for people who manage creating, bringing in, movement, storing, treating and removing controlled waste is specified in section 34 of the act. It stated that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. There are skip hire permits that may cost as much as £60, £80, and up to £100 sometimes. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. At Norris Ickenham we feel duty bound to ensuring you hire a skip without stress. We can get you a skip hire permit and deliver the skip you hire to save you stress. The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.
Tested skips with certificate
If it is your first experience skip hiring, you may have reservations about the safety and effectiveness of the skips when in use. At Norris Ickenham, we make sure you get the skip size you want, and make sure they are tested with certificates. Whether you require a closed skip or an open one, you can count on us to deliver it with proof of its efficiency and quality. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. You can also come by our Ickenham office instead and the tested skip you want will be provided with certificate.
Several waste types are allowed in our skips at Norris Ickenham. But there are restrictions on certain products, and they are not allowed in our skips. If it is safe enough, we can take those items from you and get them treated. Medical waste, gas canisters, air conditioning units, heavy duty batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, television sets, refrigerators, and aerosols are prohibited from being in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. We at Norris Ickenham acknowledge these targets and here they are: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. Some government organisations and local authorities are tasked with the job of meeting their targets and making sure other environmental services available get to needed locations. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It specifies the targets needed to lower the quantity of waste removed to landfill areas in the UK. It further stated that, from 2007, landfills were to only take untreated waste. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. Only 50% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2013. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The targets for natural recycling were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. They include:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and landfill diversions. The following materials can be recycled: wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, and various others.
