- 4 Yard Skip Hire You can get a 4 Yard skip at Norris Queensbury for everyday purposes. It is just perfect for the outside of your office or home, as it is built to carry a certain amount of waste. It can hold 20-35 black disposable bags at any given time, and is fit for small do-it-yourself clear outs, garden clearance, and home removals. It doesn’t take up much space, and is easy to move and use. It is the most affordable of the range we have.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire At Norris Queensbury, we also have the 4 yard skip for hire. The 4 yard skip has two times the capacity of the 4 Yard skip, at a height of 0.90 meters. It’s around 1.5m by 2.5m wide, and is perfect for large items like home furniture, appliances, electronics, and bathroom and kitchen refits. It has enough space for 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste. It will fit well into your garden clearance, or do-it-yourself project plan.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire The 6 yard skip is perfect for home extension projects and office premises renovations. The 6 yard skip may be used to carry builders waste like soil and pavers stones, and is provided at Norris Queensbury. It works excellently for stashing away heavy waste and materials such as soil and stones. With a width of about 1.8m by 2.3m, this skip can take about 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or up to 30 full barrow loads of building waste. You’ve most likely come across this skip in your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire We also hire out 8 yard skips, which are best used for extensive projects. It’s similar to the 6 yard builders skip, but it can contain much more waste and refits. It has a width of 1.9m by 3.4m, but has a greater holding capacity than the 6 yard skip by almost 20%. This skip can contain 100-115 full black waste bags with any issues, or 40 full barrow loads of slabs, soil, bricks and concrete. For large home removals, this skip is the ideal choice.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire If you’re looking for a much bigger skip for a large garden clearance or home removal, then you should check out the 10 yard skip. You can also hire this 2.1m by 3.6m wide skip from Norris Queensbury, for your commercial projects. The 10 yard skip can contain up to 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste, or 120–140 large bin bags. It works perfectly for large scale site clearance, home removals, and other projects.
- 12 yard Skip Hire This is more like a small industrial skip. The 12 yard skip can serve for projects like site clearances, office clearances, and commercial projects that will require large amounts of waste disposal at once, and is available for hire at Norris Queensbury. 150-185 black waste bags can fit into this large 2.3 by 4.0m skip at any time. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. At Norris Queensbury, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in Queensbury. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Limitations and Restrictions – skips usually have weight limits even with their sizes. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Queensbury
We know at Norris Queensbury that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Queensbury: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. With the rising population in Queensbury, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. You don’t have to worry about skip hiring and acquiring a permit, we can provide waste disposal services instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. It stated that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. It could be land that belongs to a third party, a federal highway, government road, or along the street. You can use your own land or space without a skip hire permit if you have it, only ensuring you don’t cross into land that isn’t yours. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. We make it our business at Norris Queensbury to make skip hiring easy for you. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? Our online quotes also include skip hire permit costs, which doesn’t matter if you have your own land or space on which to place the skip. We provide skip hire services along with permits that last for up to 14 days. You can reach us now on 020 8698 8000 if you need to know more details on skip hire permits and other waste disposal services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
Recycling targets were created by the Environmental Agency and government some time ago. We recognize these recycling targets at Norris Queensbury and here they are: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. Some government organisations and local authorities are tasked with the job of meeting their targets and making sure other environmental services available get to needed locations. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They work towards the control of pollution in the environment and encourage the protection of natural resources like plants and animals. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive was released to address Government Targets. It states that targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. It further stated that, from 2007, landfills were to only take untreated waste. Beginning from the most recent year, here are the target: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
The government published, in the Waste Strategy 2000, the following natural recycling targets:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
