Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
When hiring a skip, some factors will be important and need to be thought about and considered properly. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Greenhill and we are going to make them clear to you. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Greenhill. How long you want to keep the skip will affect the price of the skip. The longer the period of time you intend to keep it, the more likely you are to pay a higher amount. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Also, make enquiries about products that shouldn’t be put in it. Obey these restrictions to avoid any sanctions or fines.
Issues with renting skips in Greenhill
We know at Norris Greenhill that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. Issues to be considered when hiring a skip in Greenhill are local council laws, red routes, double yellow lines, narrow paths, congestion zones, small front space, pedestrian only lanes and red routes. With the rising population in Greenhill, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. You don’t have to worry about skip hiring and acquiring a permit, we can provide waste disposal services instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled wastes are wastes from industrial, commercial, and household processes in solid or liquid form. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. It could be land that belongs to a third party, a federal highway, government road, or along the street. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. At Norris Greenhill, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? We include the cost of getting ski hire permits in our online quotes when you request them, which can be removed if you already have land or a place on which to put the skip. We provide skip hire services along with permits that last for up to 14 days. Contact us today on 020 8698 8000 to find out more about skip hire permits and other services we have made available for you.
Tested skips with certificate
If you’re using a skip hire service for the first time, you might be worried about how safe and effective the skip will be during use. Along with making various skip sizes available to you, we also give you skips that have been tested and have certificates to show just that at Norris Greenhill. Closed skip or open skip, we can deliver whichever you want with proof of its efficiency and quality. We can be reached as well on 020 8698 8000, and our experts will provide any details you need. Alternatively, you can visit us at our office in Greenhill and we will make the tested skip of your choice available – with certificate.
Several waste types are allowed in our skips at Norris Greenhill. There are products, however, that are prohibited from being put in our skips. We can just take them and get them treated for you – depending on how safe those materials are. The prohibited items include medical waste, automotive oils and fluids, car tyres, plasterboard, gas canisters, aerosols, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, heavy duty batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. These targets are upheld by us at Norris Greenhill and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. It doesn’t end there! The body educates the public on environmental matters, like better waste removal standards, by promoting the recycling of household waste to reduce how much waste they have. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. A landfill directive was released to address Government Targets. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. Beginning from the most recent year, here are the target: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. No more that 50% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2013. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
