Government Issued Recycling Targets
New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. We acknowledge these targets which include: The English and Welsh environment is protected and improved upon by the Environmental Agency. Several other local authorities and organisations work with the Environmental Agency to achieve its aims, and to provide other environmental services to areas in need of it. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. The agency strives to control environmental pollution and promote the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources. It gets better! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. With the telephone number – 08708 506 506, you can contact the Environmental Agency head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or contact their office in your region. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. It states the targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 45% of waste is to be recovered as of 2010, while 67% and 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2015 and 2005 respectively. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. Below are the targets: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. The target projects that, as of 2010, 30% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. The target projects that, as of 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or composted, and every single local authority was to be 30% in the same year. The government, in its quest to reduce waste, for landfill diversion, and to assist local authorities in more recycling, has issued a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Materials like batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, building materials, and so on, have been listed as recyclable. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Skip hire pricing factors need to be well considered before hiring a skip. At Norris Brockley-Hill, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Brockley-Hill. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Remembering as well that skip hire permits have a time frame and expiry dates. Limitations and Restrictions – every skip can only take a certain amount of weight regardless of their size. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. Also, make enquiries about products that shouldn’t be put in it. Obey these restrictions to avoid any sanctions or fines.
Issues with renting skips in Brockley-Hill
We know at Norris Brockley-Hill that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Brockley-Hill: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. With the rising population in Brockley-Hill, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. You don’t need a skip hire permit if you have your own land and won’t be intruding on government or third party-owned land. You risk being fined or having the skip removed and seized if you do not ensure your skip doesn’t cross out of your own land and into someone’s space. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are also skip hire permits that cost £60, £80, and even as much as £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. At Norris Brockley-Hill, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. Contact us today on 020 8698 8000 to find out more about skip hire permits and other services we have made available for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. These targets are upheld by us at Norris Brockley-Hill and here they are: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. In 2013, only 50% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
