Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. At Norris West-Green, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional pricing – skip hire costs differ by location, it could be higher or lower. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in West-Green. How long you want to keep the skip will affect the price of the skip. The longer the period of time you intend to keep it, the more likely you are to pay a higher amount. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Some items are prohibited from being put in the skips, find out what they are, and obey the restrictions so you don’t get a fine or sanction.
Issues with renting skips in West-Green
The process of hiring a skip is often difficult, especially if you want to get a skip hire permit as well. We know about all of these difficulties at Norris West-Green. Some of the issues with renting skips in West-Green are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. We know that the growing population in West-Green will mean a more difficult skip hiring process soon. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. It stated that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are required when you intend to use a piece of land you don’t own to place the skip. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are skip hire permits that may cost as much as £60, £80, and up to £100 sometimes. The local council office can provide you with the specifics you need on pricing. At Norris West-Green we feel duty bound to ensuring you hire a skip without stress. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. You can reach us now on 020 8698 8000 if you need to know more details on skip hire permits and other waste disposal services.

A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
