Targets for Waste Recycling
All waste management agencies now have some recycling targets to meet, which are set by the Environmental Agency and the government. We acknowledge these targets which include: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the protection and improvement of the environment in Wales and England. They ensure that their targets are met while also offering other environmental services to areas that need them, by working with several other government organisations and local authorities. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. There is more! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. The directive released contains government targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2010 be only 75% of the amount taken in 1995 Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. These targets were: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. By the year 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted and 30% was set for each local authority in 2005. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. If you want to keep yourself abreast of new additions to the targets, especially in recent years, contact us at Norris Hammersmith office at Hammersmith.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris Hammersmith, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Hammersmith. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in Hammersmith
Skip hire is not always easy, you have to get the right one, and there’s more stress if you need a permit- we know all of this at Norris Hammersmith. Some of the issues with renting skips in Hammersmith are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. We know that the population in Hammersmith is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. You can avoid the stress of hiring skips and getting permits by hiring our waste disposal service instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Any industrial, commercial, or household waste in solid or liquid form is referred to as controlled waste. Personal garden waste disposal does not require the use of the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal regulation is handled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. You don’t need a skip hire permit if you have your own land and won’t be intruding on government or third party-owned land. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. There are also skip hire permits that cost £60, £80, and even as much as £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. However, it’s our duty at Norris Hammersmith to make your skip hire a smooth process. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? Our online quotes also include skip hire permit costs, which doesn’t matter if you have your own land or space on which to place the skip. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. We can be reached today on 020 8698 8000 if you want to know more about skip hire permits and other services we have in place for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. We at Norris Hammersmith acknowledge these targets and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They work towards the control of pollution in the environment and encourage the protection of natural resources like plants and animals. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: Only 35% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2015. No more that 50% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2013. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also added by the Waste Strategy 2000 were the following targets, to ensure 75% waste recovery and the achievement of the landfill directive, the following waste percentages have to be recovered: 67% in 2015, 45% in 2010 and 40% in 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
No less than 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2015. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
