Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in Winchmore-Hill. Issues with renting skips in Winchmore-Hill
We know at Norris Winchmore-Hill that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Winchmore-Hill: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. With the rising population in Winchmore-Hill, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. Our waste management services are readily available if you wish to skip the whole task of skip hiring.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
For “controlled waste” deposit, recovery and removal regulation, a new waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act in 1994. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. To acquire the permit, all applicants need to show they are fit to hold it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. The local council office can provide you with the specifics you need on pricing. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Winchmore-Hill. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.
Tested skips with certificate
If you’re hiring for the first time, you may have concerns on how safe and effective skips are when they are in use. Along with making various skip sizes available to you, we also give you skips that have been tested and have certificates to show just that at Norris Winchmore-Hill. Whether you require a closed skip or an open one, you can count on us to deliver it with proof of its efficiency and quality. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. Another option is to come by our Winchmore-Hill office and we will provide the tested skip you want with certificate.
We allow many different kinds of waste in our skips at Norris Winchmore-Hill. However, we have restrictions on the kind of items that can go in our skips. We can get these products from you and have them treated depending on how hazardous they are. The prohibited items include medical waste, automotive oils and fluids, car tyres, plasterboard, gas canisters, aerosols, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, heavy duty batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. We at Norris Winchmore-Hill acknowledge these targets and here they are: The Environmental Agency aims to make sure the Englands’ and Wales’ environment can improve and is protected. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. It doesn’t end there! The body educates the public on environmental matters, like better waste removal standards, by promoting the recycling of household waste to reduce how much waste they have. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. The government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to help local authorities recycle more, reduce waste, and for landfill diversions. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
