Skip Hire sizes
We have skips for hire in different sizes at Norris Enfield-Lock. We have skip sizes to meet your exact specifications, be it home removal or office clearing. Whether you need a skip size of 2 yards or a skip size of 12, we have something for you. The other sizes we have include: the 2 Yard Skip, 4 Yard Skip, 6 Yard Skip, 8 Yard Skip, 10 Yard Skip, and the 12 Yard Skip.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire Norris Enfield-Lock also hires out 4 yard skips. This skip is about 0.90 meters in height, and can hold twice as much as the 2 yard skip can. With a 1.5m by 2.5m width, it can hold bigger items like electronics, bathroom refits, furniture, kitchen refits, and appliances. It has enough space for 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste. An excellent use for it would be DIY projects and garden clearance.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire This skip works perfectly for home extensions and office premises renovation projects. Builders waste like pavers stones, concrete, and soil can be moved with the 6 yard skip, which is available at Norris Enfield-Lock. It can be used to store cumbersome waste materials like soil or stones. Its holding space can take about to 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or 30 full barrow loads of building dirt, as it has a width of 1.8m by 2.3m. This is pretty much the most popular skip you will find in your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire The 8 yard skip, which we have for hire, is suitable for very big projects such as home extensions. It’s not that different from the 6 yard skip, but it has a larger holding capacity. It’s around 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but it can take almost 20% more than what the 6 yard skip can. It has enough room for up to 100-115 full black bin bags, or 40 barrow loads of builders waste materials. If you’re doing a massive home removal, the 8 yard skip would be a perfect choice.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire For very big home removals or garden clearance, it is recommended to go for the 10 yard skip. Norris Enfield-Lock has the 2.1m by 3.6m wide 10 yard skip available for hire for commercial projects. The 10 yard skip can contain up to 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste, or 120–140 large bin bags. This skip serves well when used for big building projects and home removals.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire The 12 yard skip is ideal for industrialized projects. The 12 yard skip can serve for projects like site clearances, office clearances, and commercial projects that will require large amounts of waste disposal at once, and is available for hire at Norris Enfield-Lock. With a width of 2.5m by 4.0m, this skip is also long enough to contain 150–185 black disposable bags at any time. It also has enough space for more than 62 barrow loads of building waste such as slabs, soil, and pavers stones.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
When hiring a skip, some factors will be important and need to be thought about and considered properly. At Norris Enfield-Lock, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Enfield-Lock. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – skips usually have weight limits even with their sizes. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in Enfield-Lock
At Norris Enfield-Lock, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Enfield-Lock: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. With the rising population in Enfield-Lock, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Any industrial, commercial, or household waste in solid or liquid form is referred to as controlled waste. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal regulation is handled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Enfield-Lock. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Whatever kind of skip we deliver to you, closed or open, it will come with proof of quality and efficiency. Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. At Norris Enfield-Lock, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They work towards the control of pollution in the environment and encourage the protection of natural resources like plants and animals. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. Only 50% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2013. Only 75% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2010. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
