With a 1.5m by 2.5m width, it can hold bigger items like electronics, bathroom refits, furniture, kitchen refits, and appliances. 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste, can fit into it. - 6 Yard Skip Hire If you wish to carry out house extension projects, or some renovations in your business premises, this is probably the most ideal skip for you to hire. The 6 yard skip is suitable for carrying builders waste and is available at Norris Brimsdown. It can be used to store cumbersome waste materials like soil or stones. It has a 1.8m by 3.2m width, wide enough to take about 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or 30 full barrow loads of building waste. You’ve most likely come across this skip in your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire We also hire out 8 yard skips, which are best used for extensive projects. It’s similar to the 6 yard builders skip, but it can contain much more waste and refits. The 8 yard skip is 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but surpasses the 6 yard skip in holding space by almost 20%. It has enough room for up to 100-115 full black bin bags, or 40 barrow loads of builders waste materials. It serves perfectly for extensive home removals.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire For very big home removals or garden clearance, it is recommended to go for the 10 yard skip. Norris Brimsdown has the 2.1m by 3.6m wide 10 yard skip available for hire for commercial projects. It has a large holding capacity and can contain about 120–140 large disposal bags or 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste at once. If you’re handling a big building project or home removal, this skip would be the best choice.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire The 12 yard skip is ideal for industrialized projects. The 12 yard skip can serve for projects like site clearances, office clearances, and commercial projects that will require large amounts of waste disposal at once, and is available for hire at Norris Brimsdown. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. There is more! Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Brimsdown and we are going to make them clear to you. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Brimsdown. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – different skip sizes also have different weight limits. Make enquiries from your service provider on the limitations they might have. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Brimsdown
At Norris Brimsdown, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. Renting a skip in Brimsdown may come with issues such as local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, narrow paths, red routes, small parking space, congestion zones, small gardens, and double yellow lines. We are also aware of the increasing population in Brimsdown, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. Our waste management services are readily available if you wish to skip the whole task of skip hiring.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled wastes are wastes from industrial, commercial, and household processes in solid or liquid form. People who only do waste disposals from personal gardens were not included in getting the license. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are skip hire permits that may cost as much as £60, £80, and up to £100 sometimes. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Brimsdown. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. Contact us today on 020 8698 8000 to find out more about skip hire permits and other services we have made available for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. We recognize these recycling targets at Norris Brimsdown and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The government published, in the Waste Strategy 2000, the following natural recycling targets:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and landfill diversions. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
