Environmental Agency Recycling Targets
The Environmental Agency and the government have set recycling targets for some time now. We at Norris Hampstead acknowledge these targets and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. There are still other things! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive has been released in relation to Government Targets. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: Waste quantity taken to landfill sites should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. To help make the landfill directive achievable and recover waste, the following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The Waste Strategy of 2000 contains the natural recycling targets published by the government. These targets were: By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2010. By the year 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted and 30% was set for each local authority in 2005. Local authorities can now be assisted to do more recycling through the government issued “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” which will also help reduce waste and landfill diversion. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. To keep yourself updated on any of the latest additions to the targets, especially for the upcoming years, you can visit the Norris Hampstead office at Hampstead.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. We at Norris Hampstead understand these skip hire pricing factors, and we have decided to give you a brief explanation of each of them. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Hampstead. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – different skip sizes also have different weight limits. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Hampstead
At Norris Hampstead, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. Renting a skip in Hampstead may come with issues such as local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, narrow paths, red routes, small parking space, congestion zones, small gardens, and double yellow lines. We know that the population in Hampstead is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. People who only do waste disposals from personal gardens were not included in getting the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits that cost £60, £80, and even as much as £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. We make it our business at Norris Hampstead to make skip hiring easy for you. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. You can reach us now on 020 8698 8000 if you need to know more details on skip hire permits and other waste disposal services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. These targets are upheld by us at Norris Hampstead and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. It doesn’t end there! The body educates the public on environmental matters, like better waste removal standards, by promoting the recycling of household waste to reduce how much waste they have. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. Beginning from the most recent year, here are the target: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
