Government Issued Recycling Targets
New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. We acknowledge these targets which include: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. The agency strives to control environmental pollution and promote the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources. There is more! They also educate people on issues that are related to the environment, promote household product recycling to reduce its quantity, better waste disposal standards, and so on. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. A landfill order has been issued concerning Government Targets. It states the targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. The target is set to take effect from the most recent year and they are: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. To help make the landfill directive achievable and recover waste, the following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The government published the natural recycling targets by the Waste Strategy 2000. Here are the targets: 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2015. 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. The government, in its quest to reduce waste, for landfill diversion, and to assist local authorities in more recycling, has issued a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. To keep yourself updated on any of the latest additions to the targets, especially for the upcoming years, you can visit the Norris North-Finchley office at North-Finchley.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
When hiring a skip, some factors will be important and need to be thought about and considered properly. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris North-Finchley, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in North-Finchley. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – skips usually have weight limits even with their sizes. Make enquiries from your service provider on the limitations they might have. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in North-Finchley
At Norris North-Finchley, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in North-Finchley: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. We know that the growing population in North-Finchley will mean a more difficult skip hiring process soon. Our waste management services are readily available if you wish to skip the whole task of skip hiring.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. People who only do waste disposals from personal gardens were not included in getting the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal regulation is handled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. At Norris North-Finchley, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. We can get you a skip hire permit and deliver the skip you hire to save you stress. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. We provide skip hire services along with permits that last for up to 14 days. We can be reached today on 020 8698 8000 if you want to know more about skip hire permits and other services we have in place for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
There are recycling targets put in place by the Environmental Agency and government. We recognize these recycling targets at Norris North-Finchley and here they are: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The aim of the agency is also to make sure the quality of land, air and water gets better constantly. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states that targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. It further stated that, from 2007, landfills were to only take untreated waste. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: Only 35% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2015. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
