Skip Hire sizes
We hire out skips in various sizes at Norris Monken-Hadley. It doesn’t matter if it is an office clearing or home removal you have planned, we have the right skip sizes for everything. We have skip sizes as small as 4 Yards for small DIY projects and as big as 12 yards for industrial projects. The skip sizes we have available are 4 Yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, and 12 yard.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire You can get a 4 Yard skip at Norris Monken-Hadley for everyday purposes. It fits into an office or home environment, with space for a limited amount of waste at a time. It can hold 20-35 black disposable bags at any given time, and is fit for small do-it-yourself clear outs, garden clearance, and home removals. It’s small, convenient, and easy to use. It is the most affordable of the range we have.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire Norris Monken-Hadley also hires out 4 yard skips. Its holding capacity is twice that of the 4 Yard skip, and is just 0.90 meters in height. It has a width of 1.5m by 2.5m, making it suitable for larger items such as electronics, furniture, bathroom and kitchen refits, and appliances. It has enough space for 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste. It will fit well into your garden clearance, or do-it-yourself project plan.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire If you wish to carry out house extension projects, or some renovations in your business premises, this is probably the most ideal skip for you to hire. Norris Location has 6 yard skips to move builders waste such as concrete, slabs and soil at your disposal. If you want to store heavy waste and bulky materials like soil or stones, the 6 yard skip is just perfect. It has enough space for 75 to 95 black bin bags, or 30 full barrow loads of builders waste due to its width of 1.8m by 2.3m. You’ve most likely come across this skip in your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire The 8 yard skip, which we have for hire, is suitable for very big projects such as home extensions. Similar to the 6 yard skip, the 8 yard skip has space for a lot more waste and refits. It’s around 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but it can take almost 20% more than what the 6 yard skip can. 100-115 black disposable bags can fit well into the 8 yard skip, as can 40 barrow loads of soil, concrete, and other builders waste. If you’re doing a massive home removal, the 8 yard skip would be a perfect choice.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire The 10 yard skip is the one you want if you’re doing a large scale removal or garden clearance. Norris Monken-Hadley has the 2.1m by 3.6m wide 10 yard skip available for hire for commercial projects. The 10 yard skip can contain up to 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste, or 120–140 large bin bags. It’s ideal for larger building projects, site clearance, or home removals.
- 12 yard Skip Hire If your project is an industrialized one, the 12 yard skip would be a perfect fit. At Norris Monken-Hadley, we offer the 12 yard skip for hire for those who need a large skip for their site clearance, office clearance, or commercial projects that involve the disposal of large quantities of waste at a time. This skip is around 2.5m by 4.0m wide, with a height that can hold as much as 150-185 black bin bags of waste at once. It also has enough space for more than 62 barrow loads of building waste such as slabs, soil, and pavers stones.

Regional pricing – skip hire costs differ by location, it could be higher or lower. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in Monken-Hadley. How long you want to keep the skip will affect the price of the skip. The longer the period of time you intend to keep it, the more likely you are to pay a higher amount. Issues with renting skips in Monken-Hadley
We know at Norris Monken-Hadley that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. Some of the issues with renting skips in Monken-Hadley are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. With the rising population in Monken-Hadley, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. You can avoid the stress of hiring skips and getting permits by hiring our waste disposal service instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Any industrial, commercial, or household waste in solid or liquid form is referred to as controlled waste. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. You don’t need a skip hire permit if you have your own land and won’t be intruding on government or third party-owned land. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. There are skip hire permits that may cost as much as £60, £80, and up to £100 sometimes. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. However, it’s our duty at Norris Monken-Hadley to make your skip hire a smooth process. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? Our online quotes also include skip hire permit costs, which doesn’t matter if you have your own land or space on which to place the skip. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Monken-Hadley and you can find them below: The Environmental Agency aims to make sure the Englands’ and Wales’ environment can improve and is protected. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The aim of the agency is also to make sure the quality of land, air and water gets better constantly. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: Only 35% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2015. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. The government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to help local authorities recycle more, reduce waste, and for landfill diversions. The following materials can be recycled: wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, and various others.
