Skip Hire sizes
There are a wide range of skip sizes for hire here at Norris Mill-Hill. We have skip sizes to meet your exact specifications, be it home removal or office clearing. If you need a small skip size like a 2 yard, or a big one of 12 yards, either way we have you covered. The other sizes we have include: the 2 Yard Skip, 4 Yard Skip, 6 Yard Skip, 8 Yard Skip, 10 Yard Skip, and the 12 Yard Skip.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire Norris Mill-Hill also hires out 4 yard skips. This skip is about 0.90 meters in height, and can hold twice as much as the 2 yard skip can. It’s around 1.5m by 2.5m wide, and is perfect for large items like home furniture, appliances, electronics, and bathroom and kitchen refits. It can hold just over 17 full barrow loads of waste and 45 to 50 black waste bags. If you are thinking of DIY projects or garden clearance, this would be a splendid choice.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire If you wish to carry out house extension projects, or some renovations in your business premises, this is probably the most ideal skip for you to hire. Norris Location has 6 yard skips to move builders waste such as concrete, slabs and soil at your disposal. It is an ideal storage option for materials and waste like stones and soil. It has enough space for 75 to 95 black bin bags, or 30 full barrow loads of builders waste due to its width of 1.8m by 2.3m. This skip is popular with people in any area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire The 8 yard skip, which we have for hire, is suitable for very big projects such as home extensions. The 8 yard skip is very similar to the 6 yard skip, but it just has room for more items. The 8 yard skip is 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but surpasses the 6 yard skip in holding space by almost 20%. It has enough room for up to 100-115 full black bin bags, or 40 barrow loads of builders waste materials. If you’re doing a massive home removal, the 8 yard skip would be a perfect choice.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire If you’re looking for a much bigger skip for a large garden clearance or home removal, then you should check out the 10 yard skip. Available for hire at Norris Mill-Hill, the 2.1m by 3.6m wide skip is ideal for commercial projects. This skip has enough room for about 120–140 big waste bags, or 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste at any time. It works perfectly for large scale site clearance, home removals, and other projects.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire This skip is mainly for industrialized purposes. The 12 yard skip we have for hire at Norris Mill-Hill is really big, and is suitable for large commercial projects and office or home clearances that will involve plenty of one time disposals. This skip has a height and a width of 2.5m by 4.0m, giving it enough space for about 150–185 large disposable bags at any time. The space in this skip is large enough for more than 62 full barrow loads of slabs, concrete, and more building waste.

Waste Recycling Targets
The government and the Environmental Agency have set new targets to be reached by all recycling agencies. Norris Mill-Hill recognizes these targets and they are: The agency charged with protecting and improving the English and Welsh environment is the Environmental Agency. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. Animals, plants and other natural resources, as well as environmental pollution, are conserved and controlled respectively by them through effort implementation. It doesn’t end there! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. The targets, as of the most recent year, include: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 45% of all waste should be recovered by the end of 2010, 67% of waste should be recovered by 2015, while 40% of waste be recovered as of 2005. For the natural recycling targets, you’ll find them published by the government in the Waste Strategy 2000. Here are the targets: By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. The target projects that, as of 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or composted, and every single local authority was to be 30% in the same year. Clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, and so on, and a few others were included in the list of products to be recycled. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Skip hire pricing factors need to be well considered before hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Mill-Hill and we are going to make them clear to you. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Mill-Hill. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Remembering as well that skip hire permits have a time frame and expiry dates. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Mill-Hill
The process of hiring a skip is often difficult, especially if you want to get a skip hire permit as well. We know about all of these difficulties at Norris Mill-Hill. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Mill-Hill: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. We know that the population in Mill-Hill is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled wastes are wastes from industrial, commercial, and household processes in solid or liquid form. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal regulation is handled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
You need a skip hire permit if you want to hire a skip for a construction project and will have to place it on public land. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. There are also skip hire permits for a lot more than £20, including £60, £80 and £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Mill-Hill. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. We include the cost of getting ski hire permits in our online quotes when you request them, which can be removed if you already have land or a place on which to put the skip. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. You can reach us now on 020 8698 8000 if you need to know more details on skip hire permits and other waste disposal services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. We at Norris Mill-Hill acknowledge these targets and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive was released because of Government Targets. It states that targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. In 2013, only 50% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. The government released a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to assist in the recycling and reduction of waste and landfill diversions. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
