Skip Hire sizes
We have skips for hire in different sizes at Norris East-Finchley. It doesn’t matter if it is an office clearing or home removal you have planned, we have the right skip sizes for everything. If you just need a small skip of 2 yards to carry out small DIY projects, or as big as a 12 yard skip for industrial purposes, we have the perfect size for you. Our skip sizes are 2 yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, and 12 yard.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire Norris East-Finchley also hires out 4 yard skips. With a height of 0.90 meters, the 4 yard skip is able to accommodate twice the amount of the 2 yard skip. It has more space for bigger materials, including electronic appliances, kitchen and bathroom refits, and even furniture, because it has a longer width of 1.5m by 2.5m. 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste, can fit into it. If you are thinking of DIY projects or garden clearance, this would be a splendid choice.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire The 6 yard skip is perfect for home extension projects and office premises renovations. The 6 yard skip is suitable for carrying builders waste and is available at Norris East-Finchley. It works excellently for stashing away heavy waste and materials such as soil and stones. It has a 1.8m by 3.2m width, wide enough to take about 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or 30 full barrow loads of building waste. This is pretty much the most popular skip you will find in your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire We have the 8 yard skip available, which is perfect for bigger building projects. It’s not that different from the 6 yard skip, but it has a larger holding capacity. The 8 yard skip is 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but surpasses the 6 yard skip in holding space by almost 20%. 100-115 full black waste bags can be stashed into it safely, or 40 barrow loads of paving stones, bricks, concrete, slabs and soil. It serves perfectly for extensive home removals.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire The 10 yard skip is the one you want if you’re doing a large scale removal or garden clearance. You can also hire this 2.1m by 3.6m wide skip from Norris East-Finchley, for your commercial projects. This skip has enough room for about 120–140 big waste bags, or 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste at any time. This skip serves well when used for big building projects and home removals.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire This is more like a small industrial skip. At Norris East-Finchley, we offer the 12 yard skip for hire for those who need a large skip for their site clearance, office clearance, or commercial projects that involve the disposal of large quantities of waste at a time. This skip has a height and a width of 2.5m by 4.0m, giving it enough space for about 150–185 large disposable bags at any time. It can also hold over 62 full barrow loads of paver stones, concrete, soil, slabs and so on.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Skip hire pricing factors need to be well considered before hiring a skip. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris East-Finchley, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in East-Finchley. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in East-Finchley
At Norris East-Finchley, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Some of the issues with renting skips in East-Finchley are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. At the rate at which East-Finchley is growing in population, skip hiring will become more and more difficult. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. We make it our business at Norris East-Finchley to make skip hiring easy for you. We can get you a skip hire permit and deliver the skip you hire to save you stress. The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. We can be reached today on 020 8698 8000 if you want to know more about skip hire permits and other services we have in place for you.

Whatever kind of skip we deliver to you, closed or open, it will come with proof of quality and efficiency. Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
Recycling targets were created by the Environmental Agency and government some time ago. We at Norris East-Finchley acknowledge these targets and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They work towards the control of pollution in the environment and encourage the protection of natural resources like plants and animals. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can visit them at their office in your region, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. You can also call them on 08 708 506 506. A landfill directive was released because of Government Targets. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. Only 75% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2010. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. The government released a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to assist in the recycling and reduction of waste and landfill diversions. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
