Environmental Agency Recycling Targets
For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. We at Norris Cricklewood acknowledge these targets and here they are: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. The Environmental Agency continuously strives to improve water, land, and air quality. The agency strives to control environmental pollution and promote the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources. There are still other things! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. With the telephone number – 08708 506 506, you can contact the Environmental Agency head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or contact their office in your region. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. It states the targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. The target is set to take effect from the most recent year and they are: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2010 be only 75% of the amount taken in 1995 The following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy of 2000 to recover waste and help in achieving the landfill directive: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. For the natural recycling targets, you’ll find them published by the government in the Waste Strategy 2000. Below are the targets: By the year 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted. The target projects that, as of 2010, 30% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 25% of household waste as of 2005, while each local authority was 30% in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and for landfill diversions. Clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, and so on, and a few others were included in the list of products to be recycled. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Cricklewood and we are going to make them clear to you. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Cricklewood. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Cricklewood
Skip hire is not always easy, you have to get the right one, and there’s more stress if you need a permit- we know all of this at Norris Cricklewood. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Cricklewood. With the rising population in Cricklewood, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled wastes are wastes from industrial, commercial, and household processes in solid or liquid form. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. It stated that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. At Norris Cricklewood, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. Contact us today on 020 8698 8000 to find out more about skip hire permits and other services we have made available for you.
Tested skips with certificate
It is not unusual for you to be nervous about how safe and effective it will be to use a skip if you’re hiring for the first time. At Norris Cricklewood, we make sure you get the skip size you want, and make sure they are tested with certificates. So, if the skip you require is a closed or open one, we can be trusted to provide it along with proof of quality and efficiency. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. You can also come by our Cricklewood office instead and the tested skip you want will be provided with certificate.
At Norris Cricklewood, a lot of different waste types are acceptable to be put in our skips. But, there are some prohibited items that cannot go in our skips. We can collect such products and have them treated depending on how safe they are. These restricted items are automotive oils and fluids, medical waste, car tyres, heavy duty batteries, gas canisters, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, aerosols, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. At Norris Cricklewood, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. There are many government organisations and local authorities that have the duty of making sure these targets are achieved and the services they have available get to the environments that need them. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. In 2010, only 75% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and landfill diversions. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
