Waste Recycling Targets
All waste management agencies now have some recycling targets to meet, which are set by the Environmental Agency and the government. We acknowledge these targets which include: The agency charged with protecting and improving the English and Welsh environment is the Environmental Agency. They ensure that their targets are met while also offering other environmental services to areas that need them, by working with several other government organisations and local authorities. The quality of water, air, and land is continuously improved by the Environmental Agency. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. It gets better! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. Targets set for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the country is stated in the directive. The targets, as of the most recent year, include: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. Here are the targets: By the year 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. The government, in its quest to reduce waste, for landfill diversion, and to assist local authorities in more recycling, has issued a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. If you want to keep yourself abreast of new additions to the targets, especially in recent years, contact us at Norris Burnley office at Burnley.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. We at Norris Burnley understand these skip hire pricing factors, and we have decided to give you a brief explanation of each of them. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Burnley. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – every skip can only take a certain amount of weight regardless of their size. Make enquiries from your service provider on the limitations they might have. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Burnley
We know at Norris Burnley that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. Renting a skip in Burnley may come with issues such as local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, narrow paths, red routes, small parking space, congestion zones, small gardens, and double yellow lines. We are also aware of the increasing population in Burnley, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. Our waste management services are readily available if you wish to skip the whole task of skip hiring.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The regulation of waste deposits, and the recovery and removal of “controlled waste” is handled by the waste licensing system that was put in place in 1994, replacing the 1974 Control of Pollution Act. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. Personal garden waste disposal does not require the use of the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. You risk being fined or having the skip removed and seized if you do not ensure your skip doesn’t cross out of your own land and into someone’s space. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits for a lot more than £20, including £60, £80 and £100. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. At Norris Burnley, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. We include the cost of getting ski hire permits in our online quotes when you request them, which can be removed if you already have land or a place on which to put the skip. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. At Norris Burnley, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The aim of the agency is also to make sure the quality of land, air and water gets better constantly. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive was released because of Government Targets. It specifies the targets needed to lower the quantity of waste removed to landfill areas in the UK. It further stated that, from 2007, landfills were to only take untreated waste. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used in landfills in the UK by 2015 shouldn’t exceed 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 Also added by the Waste Strategy 2000 were the following targets, to ensure 75% waste recovery and the achievement of the landfill directive, the following waste percentages have to be recovered: 67% in 2015, 45% in 2010 and 40% in 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and landfill diversions. The following materials can be recycled: wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, and various others.
