Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris West-Farleighx, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in West-Farleigh. How long you want to keep the skip will affect the price of the skip. The longer the period of time you intend to keep it, the more likely you are to pay a higher amount. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in West-Farleigh
At Norris West-Farleigh, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in West-Farleigh: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. We are also aware of the increasing population in West-Farleigh, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. You can avoid the stress of hiring skips and getting permits by hiring our waste disposal service instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled wastes are wastes from industrial, commercial, and household processes in solid or liquid form. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” The special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005 are in charge of controlling the way waste is disposed.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. However, it’s our duty at Norris West-Farleigh to make your skip hire a smooth process. We can get you a skip hire permit and deliver the skip you hire to save you stress. When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Therefore, if you need a closed or open skip, you can rely on us to make it available to you with proof of efficiency and quality. Alternatively, you can visit us at our office in West-Farleigh and we will make the tested skip of your choice available – with certificate.
At Norris West-Farleigh, we accept various types of waste in our skips. However, we have restrictions on the kind of items that can go in our skips. We can provide you with treatment services for materials like that, depending on how safe they are. Items such as medical waste, aerosols, electronic appliances, gas canisters, heavy duty batteries, television sets, and fluorescent light bulbs are not allowed in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. These targets are upheld by us at Norris West-Farleigh and here they are: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. It doesn’t end there! The body educates the public on environmental matters, like better waste removal standards, by promoting the recycling of household waste to reduce how much waste they have. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive was released because of Government Targets. It specifies the targets needed to lower the quantity of waste removed to landfill areas in the UK. It also added, from 2007, that landfills shouldn’t take waste that hasn’t been treated. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. No more that 50% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2013. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
