Waste Recycling Targets
The Environmental Agency and the government have set recycling targets for some time now. We at Norris Bicknor acknowledge these targets and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. To better meet these targets and provide other environmental services to areas in need of them, the agency partners with several other organisations and local authorities. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. Animals, plants and other natural resources, as well as environmental pollution, are conserved and controlled respectively by them through effort implementation. There are still other things! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2010 be only 75% of the amount taken in 1995 To help make the landfill directive achievable and recover waste, the following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000: 45% of waste is to be recovered as of 2010, while 67% and 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2015 and 2005 respectively. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. The following are the targets: The target projects that, as of 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By the year 2010, 30% of household waste should be either recycled or it should be composted. The target projects that, as of 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or composted, and every single local authority was to be 30% in the same year. The government, in its quest to reduce waste, for landfill diversion, and to assist local authorities in more recycling, has issued a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, and so on, and a few others were included in the list of products to be recycled. To be up to date on any new entry in the targets, especially in recent years, visit the Norris Bicknor office at Bicknor.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
When hiring a skip, some factors will be important and need to be thought about and considered properly. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Bicknorx, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in Bicknor. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Keeping in mind there are time limits on skip hire permits too. Limitations and Restrictions – different skip sizes also have different weight limits. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Bicknor
At Norris Bicknor, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Bicknor. We are also aware of the increasing population in Bicknor, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. Our waste management services are readily available if you wish to skip the whole task of skip hiring.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Any industrial, commercial, or household waste in solid or liquid form is referred to as controlled waste. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
The duty of care for people who manage creating, bringing in, movement, storing, treating and removing controlled waste is specified in section 34 of the act. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. At Norris Bicknor we feel duty bound to ensuring you hire a skip without stress. We also provide skip hire permit procurement along with skip delivery to make the whole process stress free. The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. We provide skip hire services along with permits that last for up to 14 days. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.

Whatever kind of skip we deliver to you, closed or open, it will come with proof of quality and efficiency. Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
Recycling targets were created by the Environmental Agency and government some time ago. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Bicknor and you can find them below: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are many government organisations and local authorities that have the duty of making sure these targets are achieved and the services they have available get to the environments that need them. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. Only 50% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2013. In 2010, only 75% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
No less than 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2015. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 25% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2005, although local authority was 30% in that same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. The following materials can be recycled: wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, and various others.
