Skip Hire sizes
At Norris Eythorne, we have several sizes of skips for hire. It doesn’t matter if it is an office clearing or home removal you have planned, we have the right skip sizes for everything. Whatever your project we have a skip size for you. Our skips are in sizes 2 yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, and 12 yard.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire The 4 yard skip is also available for hire at Norris Eythorne. Its holding capacity is twice that of the 2 yard skip, and is just 0.90 meters in height. With a 1.5m by 2.5m width, it can hold bigger items like electronics, bathroom refits, furniture, kitchen refits, and appliances. It has enough space for 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste. This is perfect for garden clearance, and many other DIY projects.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire If you wish to carry out house extension projects, or some renovations in your business premises, this is probably the most ideal skip for you to hire. The 6 yard skip may be used to carry builders waste like soil and pavers stones, and is provided at Norris Eythorne. It’s perfect for stashing away heavy waste and bulky materials like soil or stones. Its holding space can take about to 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or 30 full barrow loads of building dirt, as it has a width of 1.8m by 2.3m. This skip is probably the most used around your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire We also provide an 8 yard skip for hire for much larger building projects like home extension projects. The 8 yard skip is very similar to the 6 yard skip, but it just has room for more items. Just 1.9m by 3.4m wide, yet almost 20% bigger in space than the 6 yard skip. This skip can safely hold 100-115 filled black bin bags, or 40 barrow loads of builders waste and materials. It serves perfectly for extensive home removals.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire For very big home removals or garden clearance, it is recommended to go for the 10 yard skip. This skip is 2.1m by 3.6m wide, and can be used for commercial projects, it can be hired at Norris Eythorne. It has a large holding capacity and can contain about 120–140 large disposal bags or 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste at once. For larger building projects, home removals, and garden or site clearance, this is the skip to use.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire This is more like a small industrial skip. The 12 yard skip can serve for projects like site clearances, office clearances, and commercial projects that will require large amounts of waste disposal at once, and is available for hire at Norris Eythorne. This skip has a height and a width of 2.5m by 4.0m, giving it enough space for about 150–185 large disposable bags at any time. Waste Recycling Targets
New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. We acknowledge these targets which include: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the protection and improvement of the environment in Wales and England. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. The quality of water, air, and land is continuously improved by the Environmental Agency. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. It gets better! They also educate people on issues that are related to the environment, promote household product recycling to reduce its quantity, better waste disposal standards, and so on. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive has been released in relation to Government Targets. It reflects the goals of reducing the quantity of waste sent to landfill spots in the country. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: Waste quantity taken to landfill sites should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. For the natural recycling targets, you’ll find them published by the government in the Waste Strategy 2000. The following are the targets: 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2015. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. Local authorities can now be assisted to do more recycling through the government issued “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” which will also help reduce waste and landfill diversion. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. To be up to date on any new entry in the targets, especially in recent years, visit the Norris Eythorne office at Eythorne.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Eythorne, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. A skip priced at £50 in London, for example, may be priced at £20 in Eythorne. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Remembering as well that skip hire permits have a time frame and expiry dates. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Eythorne
At Norris Eythorne, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Renting a skip in Eythorne may come with issues such as local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, narrow paths, red routes, small parking space, congestion zones, small gardens, and double yellow lines. We are also aware of the increasing population in Eythorne, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
For “controlled waste” deposit, recovery and removal regulation, a new waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act in 1994. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. You don’t need a skip hire permit if you have your own land and won’t be intruding on government or third party-owned land. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. There are skip hire permits that may cost as much as £60, £80, and up to £100 sometimes. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. We make it our business at Norris Eythorne to make skip hiring easy for you. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. Contact us today on 020 8698 8000 to find out more about skip hire permits and other services we have made available for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. We at Norris Eythorne acknowledge these targets and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. It doesn’t stop at that! They also provide enlightenment for people on better waste control methods such as recycling household waste. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It specifies the targets needed to lower the quantity of waste removed to landfill areas in the UK. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
The government published, in the Waste Strategy 2000, the following natural recycling targets:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
