Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Skip hire pricing factors need to be well considered before hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Alkham, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Alkham. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. You have to find out if there are limitations from your skip hire service provider. Also, make enquiries about products that shouldn’t be put in it. Obey these restrictions to avoid any sanctions or fines.
Issues with renting skips in Alkham
At Norris Alkham, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Alkham. With the rising population in Alkham, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
For “controlled waste” deposit, recovery and removal regulation, a new waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act in 1994. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. Applications for new site ownership need to be accompanied by the Waste Management Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate as proof of “technical competence”.
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
You need a skip hire permit if you want to hire a skip for a construction project and will have to place it on public land. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits for a lot more than £20, including £60, £80 and £100. The local council office can provide you with the specifics you need on pricing. At Norris Alkham, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. We provide skip hire services along with permits that last for up to 14 days. You can reach us now on 020 8698 8000 if you need to know more details on skip hire permits and other waste disposal services.
Tested skips with certificate
If you’re hiring for the first time, you may have concerns on how safe and effective skips are when they are in use. At Norris Alkham, we meet your skip size requirements and supply skips that have been tested with certificates. Whatever kind of skip we deliver to you, closed or open, it will come with proof of quality and efficiency. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. Another option is to come by our Alkham office and we will provide the tested skip you want with certificate.
At Norris Alkham, a lot of different waste types are acceptable to be put in our skips. But, there are some prohibited items that cannot go in our skips. We can get these products from you and have them treated depending on how hazardous they are. The items we do not allow in our skips include automotive oils and fluids, medical waste, car tyres, heavy duty batteries, gas canisters, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, aerosols, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Alkham and you can find them below: The Environmental Agency aims to make sure the Englands’ and Wales’ environment can improve and is protected. There are many government organisations and local authorities that have the duty of making sure these targets are achieved and the services they have available get to the environments that need them. The aim of the agency is also to make sure the quality of land, air and water gets better constantly. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. In 2010, only 75% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
