The skip sizes we have available are 4 Yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, and 12 yard.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire You can get a 4 Yard skip at Norris Little-Chart for everyday purposes. It is just perfect for the outside of your office or home, as it is built to carry a certain amount of waste. It is ideal for garden clearing and other DIY projects, with enough space for 20–35 black disposable bags at a time. It doesn’t take up much space, and using it is as easy as ABC. It is the most economical of all our skips.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire At Norris Little-Chart, we also have the 4 yard skip for hire. The 4 yard skip is two times bigger in holding space than the 4 Yard skip, and is 0.90meters long. It has a width of 1.5m by 2.5m, making it suitable for larger items such as electronics, furniture, bathroom and kitchen refits, and appliances. It has enough space for 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste. If you are thinking of DIY projects or garden clearance, this would be a splendid choice.

- 8 Yard Skip Hire We have the 8 yard skip available, which is perfect for bigger building projects. The 8 yard skip is very similar to the 6 yard skip, but it just has room for more items. It has almost 20% more space than the 6 yard skip, and it is just 1.9m by 3.4m in width. This skip can contain 100-115 full black waste bags with any issues, or 40 full barrow loads of slabs, soil, bricks and concrete. It serves perfectly for extensive home removals.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire The 10 yard skip is the one you want if you’re doing a large scale removal or garden clearance. Available for hire at Norris Little-Chart, the 2.1m by 3.6m wide skip is ideal for commercial projects. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris Little-Chart, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Little-Chart. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Keeping in mind there are time limits on skip hire permits too. Limitations and Restrictions – different skip sizes also have different weight limits. You have to find out if there are limitations from your skip hire service provider. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in Little-Chart
At Norris Little-Chart, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Renting a skip in Little-Chart may come with issues such as local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, narrow paths, red routes, small parking space, congestion zones, small gardens, and double yellow lines. We are also aware of the increasing population in Little-Chart, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. You don’t have to worry about skip hiring and acquiring a permit, we can provide waste disposal services instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. In order to have the license, the person applying has to show that they are fit to hold it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. You risk being fined or having the skip removed and seized if you do not ensure your skip doesn’t cross out of your own land and into someone’s space. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. At Norris Little-Chart, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. We can be reached today on 020 8698 8000 if you want to know more about skip hire permits and other services we have in place for you.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. We recognize these recycling targets at Norris Little-Chart and here they are: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. Many government organisations and local authorities are in place to ensure recycling targets are met, and that areas needing environmental services receive the services they have available. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They have efforts in place for environmental pollution control and to encourage the conservation of nature. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can visit them at their office in your region, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. You can also call them on 08 708 506 506. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states that targets for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the United Kingdom. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. No more that 50% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2013. In 2010, only 75% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. 25% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2005, although local authority was 30% in that same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
