For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. Norris Boughton-Lees recognizes these targets and they are: The agency charged with protecting and improving the English and Welsh environment is the Environmental Agency. To better meet these targets and provide other environmental services to areas in need of them, the agency partners with several other organisations and local authorities. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. The Environmental Agency encourages the conservation of animals, land, and natural resources, and controls environmental pollution by implementing certain efforts. That’s not all! The agency also puts effort in ensuring that people are up to date in environmental matters, raises waste removal standards and promotes the recycling of household products to significantly reduce the quantity of waste, among other objectives. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill order has been issued concerning Government Targets. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. From the recent year, the targets include: By 2015, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. The following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy of 2000 to recover waste and help in achieving the landfill directive: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. The following are the targets: 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2015. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. Local authorities can now be assisted to do more recycling through the government issued “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” which will also help reduce waste and landfill diversion. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. To keep yourself updated on any of the latest additions to the targets, especially for the upcoming years, you can visit the Norris Boughton-Lees office at Boughton-Lees.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
A number of factors matter and have to be looked into when you want to hire a skip. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris Boughton-Lees, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Boughton-Lees. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Remembering as well that skip hire permits have a time frame and expiry dates. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. You may get fined or sanctioned if you put products in the skip that are not allowed, which is why you need to find out if there are any such products.
Issues with renting skips in Boughton-Lees
At Norris Boughton-Lees, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Some of the issues with renting skips in Boughton-Lees are local council laws, pedestrian only lanes, little or no space in front, small gardens, not enough parking space, narrow paths, congestion zones, double yellow lines, and red routes. We know that the growing population in Boughton-Lees will mean a more difficult skip hiring process soon. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. Applications for new site ownership need to be accompanied by the Waste Management Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate as proof of “technical competence”.
The duty of care for people who manage creating, bringing in, movement, storing, treating and removing controlled waste is specified in section 34 of the act. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
You need a skip hire permit if you want to hire a skip for a construction project and will have to place it on public land. Skip hire permits are required when you intend to use a piece of land you don’t own to place the skip. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. The local council office can provide you with the specifics you need on pricing. However, it’s our duty at Norris Boughton-Lees to make your skip hire a smooth process. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.
Tested skips with certificate
It is not unusual for you to be nervous about how safe and effective it will be to use a skip if you’re hiring for the first time. Along with making various skip sizes available to you, we also give you skips that have been tested and have certificates to show just that at Norris Boughton-Lees. Closed skip or open skip, we can deliver whichever you want with proof of its efficiency and quality. Give us a call on 020 8698 8000, we always have experts available to provide answers to your questions. If you prefer, you can visit us at our Boughton-Lees office, the tested skip you pick will be made available with certificate.
Several waste types are allowed in our skips at Norris Boughton-Lees. But there are restrictions on certain products, and they are not allowed in our skips. We can collect such products and have them treated depending on how safe they are. The items we do not allow in our skips include automotive oils and fluids, medical waste, car tyres, heavy duty batteries, gas canisters, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, aerosols, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
There are recycling targets put in place by the Environmental Agency and government. We recognize these recycling targets at Norris Boughton-Lees and here they are: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. There are many government organisations and local authorities that have the duty of making sure these targets are achieved and the services they have available get to the environments that need them. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. Beginning from the most recent year, here are the target: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. Only 50% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2013. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. The government released a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to assist in the recycling and reduction of waste and landfill diversions. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
