For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. We at Little-Waltham work towards the following government set targets: The agency charged with protecting and improving the English and Welsh environment is the Environmental Agency. They ensure that their targets are met while also offering other environmental services to areas that need them, by working with several other government organisations and local authorities. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. There is more! They also educate people on issues that are related to the environment, promote household product recycling to reduce its quantity, better waste disposal standards, and so on. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill order has been issued concerning Government Targets. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. The target is set to take effect from the most recent year and they are: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. By 2013, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. To help make the landfill directive achievable and recover waste, the following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000: 45% of all waste should be recovered by the end of 2010, 67% of waste should be recovered by 2015, while 40% of waste be recovered as of 2005. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. These targets were: The target projects that, as of 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By the year 2010, 30% of household waste should be either recycled or it should be composted. The target projects that, as of 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or composted, and every single local authority was to be 30% in the same year. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Materials like batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, building materials, and so on, have been listed as recyclable. At Norris Little-Waltham office at Little-Waltham, you will get updated if there are any additions to the above targets, especially in recent years.

Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Any industrial, commercial, or household waste in solid or liquid form is referred to as controlled waste. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. According to the Act, “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal regulation is handled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits that cost £60, £80, and even as much as £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Little-Waltham. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. You can reach us now on 020 8698 8000 if you need to know more details on skip hire permits and other waste disposal services.
