Skip Hire sizes
We hire out skips in various sizes at Norris Great-Waltham. It doesn’t matter if it is an office clearing or home removal you have planned, we have the right skip sizes for everything. If you need a small skip size like a 2 yard, or a big one of 12 yards, either way we have you covered. Our skip sizes are 2 yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, and 12 yard.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire At Norris Great-Waltham, we also have the 4 yard skip for hire. With a height of 0.90 meters, the 4 yard skip is able to accommodate twice the amount of the 2 yard skip. It has a width of 1.5m by 2.5m, making it suitable for larger items such as electronics, furniture, bathroom and kitchen refits, and appliances. It can hold just over 17 full barrow loads of waste and 45 to 50 black waste bags. It will fit well into your garden clearance, or do-it-yourself project plan.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire The 6 yard skip is perfect for home extension projects and office premises renovations. The 6 yard skip is suitable for carrying builders waste and is available at Norris Great-Waltham. It works excellently for stashing away heavy waste and materials such as soil and stones. - 8 Yard Skip Hire If your building project is quite big, the 8 yard skip we provide would be perfect. The only difference between the 8 yard and 6 yard skip is that it can contain more items. It has almost 20% more space than the 6 yard skip, and it is just 1.9m by 3.4m in width. 100-115 black disposable bags can fit well into the 8 yard skip, as can 40 barrow loads of soil, concrete, and other builders waste. If you’re doing a massive home removal, the 8 yard skip would be a perfect choice.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire This skip works perfectly in large garden clearance and home removals. This skip is 2.1m by 3.6m wide, and can be used for commercial projects, it can be hired at Norris Great-Waltham. It is big enough to hold up to 52 barrows filled with commercial waste, or 120–140 large bin bags at a time. It works perfectly for large scale site clearance, home removals, and other projects.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire This is more like a small industrial skip. The 12 yard skip can serve for projects like site clearances, office clearances, and commercial projects that will require large amounts of waste disposal at once, and is available for hire at Norris Great-Waltham. This skip has a height and a width of 2.5m by 4.0m, giving it enough space for about 150–185 large disposable bags at any time. Waste Recycling Targets
New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. We at Great-Waltham work towards the following government set targets: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. There is more! They also educate people on issues that are related to the environment, promote household product recycling to reduce its quantity, better waste disposal standards, and so on. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. A landfill order has been issued concerning Government Targets. The directive sets out all the targets to be reached, which will see a decrease of the quantity of waste taken to different landfill spots in the United Kingdom. From the recent year, the targets include: The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2013. By 2010, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. For the natural recycling targets, you’ll find them published by the government in the Waste Strategy 2000. The following are the targets: By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. The target projects that, as of 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or composted, and every single local authority was to be 30% in the same year. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Materials like batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, building materials, and so on, have been listed as recyclable. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Skip hire pricing factors need to be well considered before hiring a skip. We at Norris Great-Waltham understand these skip hire pricing factors, and we have decided to give you a brief explanation of each of them. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Great-Waltham. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. You have to find out if there are limitations from your skip hire service provider. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Great-Waltham
At Norris Great-Waltham, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Great-Waltham. With the rising population in Great-Waltham, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. “Technical competence” is something an applicant for new site ownership needs to show by having the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate .
Those involved in the creation, bringing in, conveyance, storage, treatment or removal of controlled waste have their own duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
You need a skip hire permit if you want to hire a skip for a construction project and will have to place it on public land. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. We make it our business at Norris Great-Waltham to make skip hiring easy for you. We also provide skip hire permit procurement along with skip delivery to make the whole process stress free. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.
Tested skips with certificate
It is not unusual for you to be nervous about how safe and effective it will be to use a skip if you’re hiring for the first time. At Norris Great-Waltham, we meet your skip size requirements and supply skips that have been tested with certificates. Whatever kind of skip we deliver to you, closed or open, it will come with proof of quality and efficiency. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. Another option is to come by our Great-Waltham office and we will provide the tested skip you want with certificate.
At Norris Great-Waltham, we allow a large variety of waste to be put in our skips. There are products, however, that are prohibited from being put in our skips. We can just take them and get them treated for you – depending on how safe those materials are. Medical waste, gas canisters, air conditioning units, heavy duty batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, television sets, refrigerators, and aerosols are prohibited from being in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. At Norris Great-Waltham, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. Some government organisations and local authorities are tasked with the job of meeting their targets and making sure other environmental services available get to needed locations. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. With respect to Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. In 2010, only 75% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. Also added by the Waste Strategy 2000 were the following targets, to ensure 75% waste recovery and the achievement of the landfill directive, the following waste percentages have to be recovered: 67% in 2015, 45% in 2010 and 40% in 2005.
The targets for natural recycling were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. They include:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. 30% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2010. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. The government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to help local authorities recycle more, reduce waste, and for landfill diversions. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
