- 6 Yard Skip Hire This skip is ideal if you intend to do a home extension project or renovations on your office premises. The 6 yard skip is suitable for carrying builders waste and is available at Norris Chatham-Green. It can be used to store cumbersome waste materials like soil or stones. - 8 Yard Skip Hire We have the 8 yard skip available, which is perfect for bigger building projects. The only difference between the 8 yard and 6 yard skip is that it can contain more items. The 8 yard skip is 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but surpasses the 6 yard skip in holding space by almost 20%. It has enough room for up to 100-115 full black bin bags, or 40 barrow loads of builders waste materials. For large home removals, this skip is the ideal choice.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire The 10 skip yard is suitable for really big home removals and garden clearance. Norris Chatham-Green has the 2.1m by 3.6m wide 10 yard skip available for hire for commercial projects. It’s ideal for larger building projects, site clearance, or home removals.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire This is more like a small industrial skip. At Norris Chatham-Green, we offer the 12 yard skip for hire for those who need a large skip for their site clearance, office clearance, or commercial projects that involve the disposal of large quantities of waste at a time. Waste Recycling Targets
For some time now, the government and the Environmental Agency have set certain recycling targets. We at Norris Chatham-Green acknowledge these targets and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. There is more! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. With the telephone number – 08708 506 506, you can contact the Environmental Agency head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or contact their office in your region. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. The directive released contains government targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Also, some targets were introduced for waste recovery, and to help make the landfill directive achievable by the Waste Strategy 2000: 45% of all waste should be recovered by the end of 2010, 67% of waste should be recovered by 2015, while 40% of waste be recovered as of 2005. The Waste Strategy of 2000 contains the natural recycling targets published by the government. Below are the targets: The target projects that, as of 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 25% of household waste as of 2005, while each local authority was 30% in the same year. To assist local authorities in recycling more waste, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, the government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. At Norris Chatham-Green office at Chatham-Green, you will get updated if there are any additions to the above targets, especially in recent years.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. At Norris Chatham-Green, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional pricing – skip hire costs differ by location, it could be higher or lower. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Chatham-Green. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. Ask if there are any items that aren’t allowed in the skip and stick to the restrictions if there are, so you won’t be sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Chatham-Green
At Norris Chatham-Green, we are aware of all the challenges that come with hiring the best skips, especially if you have to get a skip hire permit as well. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Chatham-Green. We know that the population in Chatham-Green is increasing on a daily basis, meaning getting a space to place a skip will soon become more difficult. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. Anyone applying to own a new site has to have the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate, which proves they are “technically competent”.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. You can use your own land or space without a skip hire permit if you have it, only ensuring you don’t cross into land that isn’t yours. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. Depending on your location and the size of the skip involved, £20 should be able to get you a skip hire permit. There are more expensive skip hire permits; for about £60, £80 and £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. At Norris Chatham-Green we feel duty bound to ensuring you hire a skip without stress. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? We include the cost of getting ski hire permits in our online quotes when you request them, which can be removed if you already have land or a place on which to put the skip. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. We can be reached today on 020 8698 8000 if you want to know more about skip hire permits and other services we have in place for you.

Closed skip or open skip, we can deliver whichever you want with proof of its efficiency and quality. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and our experts will be available to answer all your queries. We can get these products from you and have them treated depending on how hazardous they are. These restricted items are automotive oils and fluids, medical waste, car tyres, heavy duty batteries, gas canisters, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, aerosols, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. We at Norris Chatham-Green acknowledge these targets and here they are: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. Some government organisations and local authorities are tasked with the job of meeting their targets and making sure other environmental services available get to needed locations. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. The Environmental Agency can be contacted on 08708 506 506 or through their office in your locality, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. A landfill directive was released because of Government Targets. It specifies the targets needed to lower the quantity of waste removed to landfill areas in the UK. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. Only 50% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2013. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 Also, these targets were introduced by Waste Strategy 2000, for the recovery of waste and achieving the landfill directive: y 2015, 67% of the waste has to be recovered, 45% recovered by 2010, 40% by 2005.
The government published, in the Waste Strategy 2000, the following natural recycling targets:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
