Our first award was the RoSPA Gold Medal Award, which is given to firms who have achieved old Level and have retained it for consecutive 5 years. Our devotion to the safety and health of our customers, in the course of providing our service, is what earned us the award. We are also ISO (International Standards Organization) certified. Under the ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 SHEQ, which we implement, we are guaranteeing our clients that we will never perform below expectations in service delivery. We insist on implementing the above standards because they help in our management and monitoring of operations, general service, customer service, and service delivery. At Norris Exmouth, we guarantee a continuous improvement of our service quality, which will never fall below average. We are proudly a part of the membership of the Chartered Institution of Waste Management (CIWM). The CIWM represents over 6,000 professional waste management agencies in the UK, and many other countries. These waste professionals (including Norris Exmouth) also work in the sustainable resources sector. The standards, rules, and regulations that these waste management agencies work under, are set by the CIWM, who also grades them according to their experience, education, and qualifications. Apart from CIWM membership, we also have accreditation from SafeContractor, which is a third party accreditation body in the health and safety industry, and which is fast growing. More than 17,000 contractors make up SafeContractors’ membership, with a client list of 150, and they are based in the UK. As a registered member of the scheme, we ensure that the safety of your environment is also guaranteed. The Wood Recyclers Association (WRA) also has us on their membership list. Agencies join the WRA so that they can be represented to regulatory authorities like the government. On matters relating to the wood recycling industry, they offer advice and guidance on relevant topics and matters. The WRA has some commercial and environmental benefits for its members, one of which is the conducive atmosphere for networking and to benefit from diverse opportunities, thereby promoting wood recycling.
All waste management agencies now have some recycling targets to meet, which are set by the Environmental Agency and the government. We at Exmouth work towards the following government set targets: The agency charged with protecting and improving the English and Welsh environment is the Environmental Agency. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. The agency also seeks to better the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. That’s not all! They also educate people on issues that are related to the environment, promote household product recycling to reduce its quantity, better waste disposal standards, and so on. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. The directive released contains government targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. By 2010, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. Furthermore, the following targets were introduced by the Waste Strategy 2000, for waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 45% of waste is to be recovered as of 2010, while 67% and 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2015 and 2005 respectively. For the natural recycling targets, you’ll find them published by the government in the Waste Strategy 2000. These targets include: The target projects that, as of 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and for landfill diversions. Recyclable materials were listed, which include: wood, vehicles, clinical waste, building materials, composting, printer cartridges, batteries, paper, computers, plastic, glass, furniture, oil, metal, electronic and electricals, and so on. Visit the Norris Exmouth office at Exmouth to get updated on any recent additions to the targets especially for the upcoming.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris Exmouth, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. You may get a skip for £50 in London and get the same skip for £20 in Exmouth. Time duration on the hire is another factor that affects pricing, when you want to keep a skip for a long period of time, you’ll have to pay more. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – skips usually have weight limits even with their sizes. Make enquiries from your service provider on the limitations they might have. Some items are prohibited from being put in the skips, find out what they are, and obey the restrictions so you don’t get a fine or sanction.
Issues with renting skips in Exmouth
The process of hiring a skip is often difficult, especially if you want to get a skip hire permit as well. We know about all of these difficulties at Norris Exmouth. Issues to be considered when hiring a skip in Exmouth are local council laws, red routes, double yellow lines, narrow paths, congestion zones, small front space, pedestrian only lanes and red routes. We are also aware of the increasing population in Exmouth, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Any industrial, commercial, or household waste in solid or liquid form is referred to as controlled waste. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
In section 34 of the act, the duty of care for all those who make, bring in, move, treat, store or remove controlled waste is available. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
Do you want to hire a skip for a construction project that will involve placing it on public land? Then you will need a skip hire permit. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. It could be land that belongs to a third party, a federal highway, government road, or along the street. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. You risk being fined or having the skip removed and seized if you do not ensure your skip doesn’t cross out of your own land and into someone’s space. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. There are skip hire permits that may cost as much as £60, £80, and up to £100 sometimes. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. We make it our business at Norris Exmouth to make skip hiring easy for you. We also provide skip hire permit procurement along with skip delivery to make the whole process stress free. The cost of getting a skip hire permit is often added to the online quote you request , although this won’t matter if you have space or land for keeping the skip. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Call us today on 020 8698 8000 if you have any concerns, and our experts will answer your questions. We can provide you with treatment services for materials like that, depending on how safe they are. The prohibited items include medical waste, automotive oils and fluids, car tyres, plasterboard, gas canisters, aerosols, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, heavy duty batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Exmouth and you can find them below: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. It doesn’t end there! The body educates the public on environmental matters, like better waste removal standards, by promoting the recycling of household waste to reduce how much waste they have. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. A landfill directive was released to address Government Targets. It gives a recommended target on how much the amount of waste needs to be reduced for landfilling spots in the United Kingdom. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. The government released a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to assist in the recycling and reduction of waste and landfill diversions. The following materials can be recycled: wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, and various others.
