Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
When hiring a skip, some factors will be important and need to be thought about and considered properly. At Norris Gerrards-Cross, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – every region has its own skip hire cost. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in Gerrards-Cross. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – every skip can only take a certain amount of weight regardless of their size. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Gerrards-Cross
We know at Norris Gerrards-Cross that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Gerrards-Cross: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. We are also aware of the increasing population in Gerrards-Cross, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Any industrial, commercial, or household waste in solid or liquid form is referred to as controlled waste. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. To acquire the permit, all applicants need to show they are fit to hold it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal regulation is handled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
If you’re going to place a skip you hired for a construction project on public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits are required when you intend to use a piece of land you don’t own to place the skip. It could be land that belongs to a third party, a federal highway, government road, or along the street. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. You can get a skip hire permit for £20, although the skip size and issuing council would also affect the cost. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. The local council office can provide you with the specifics you need on pricing. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Gerrards-Cross. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.

Whatever kind of skip we deliver to you, closed or open, it will come with proof of quality and efficiency. We can provide you with treatment services for materials like that, depending on how safe they are. Medical waste, gas canisters, air conditioning units, heavy duty batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, television sets, refrigerators, and aerosols are prohibited from being in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Gerrards-Cross and you can find them below: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. Some government organisations and local authorities are tasked with the job of meeting their targets and making sure other environmental services available get to needed locations. The Environmental Agency also endeavors to make sure land, air and water are constantly improved in terms of quality. They work towards the control of pollution in the environment and encourage the protection of natural resources like plants and animals. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. Find the targets below, starting from the most recent year: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. Only 75% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2010. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
Waste Strategy 2000 had published in it, by the government, the natural recycling targets, which are as follows:
33% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2015. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. 25% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2005, although local authority was 30% in that same year. The government released a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to assist in the recycling and reduction of waste and landfill diversions. Wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and more are recyclable.
