New recycling targets have been set by the government and the Environmental Agency to be reached by every waste management agency. We at Norris Birmingham acknowledge these targets and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. The quality of water, air, and land is continuously improved by the Environmental Agency. Animals, plants and other natural resources, as well as environmental pollution, are conserved and controlled respectively by them through effort implementation. That’s not all! They also educate people on issues that are related to the environment, promote household product recycling to reduce its quantity, better waste disposal standards, and so on. Reach out to the Environmental Agency in your area, or you can call 08708 506 506 to contact their headquarters located in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. Targets set for lowering the quantity of waste taken to landfill spots in the country is stated in the directive. The target is set to take effect from the most recent year and they are: That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2015 be only 35% of the amount taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2010 be only 75% of the amount taken in 1995 Also, some targets were introduced for waste recovery, and to help make the landfill directive achievable by the Waste Strategy 2000: 40% of waste as at 2005 should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered by 2010, while as of 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered. The Waste Strategy of 2000 contains the natural recycling targets published by the government. These targets include: 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2015. 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled by 2010. 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, and local authorities were set at 30% both by 2005. The government has issued a grant to help local authorities in more recycling, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, known as the ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, computers, and various others. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Birmingham, and we are going to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. If you get a skip for £50 in London, for example, the same size might cost you just £20 in Birmingham. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Keeping in mind there are time limits on skip hire permits too. Limitations and Restrictions – skips usually have weight limits even with their sizes. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. Find out what products aren’t allowed in the skip and follow the restrictions, to avoid being sanctioned or fined.
Issues with renting skips in Birmingham
At Norris Birmingham, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. Issues to be considered when hiring a skip in Birmingham are local council laws, red routes, double yellow lines, narrow paths, congestion zones, small front space, pedestrian only lanes and red routes. With the rising population in Birmingham, skip hiring will soon be a more challenging feat. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
In 1994, another waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act for “controlled waste” regulation – deposit, recovery and removal. Solid or liquid commercial, industrial, and household waste is called controlled waste. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. To be granted the license, whoever is applying is required to confirm their ability to hold it. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
A skip hire permit is a must have for skips hired for construction projects with the intention of placing them on any public land. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. The land in question may be that of a third party, a street, a government road, or a federal highway. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. Getting a skip hire permit can cost as low as £20, based on the skip size and council you have to get the permit from. There are also skip hire permits that cost £60, £80, and even as much as £100. Details on skip hire costs can be requested from the local council office. We make it our business at Norris Birmingham to make skip hiring easy for you. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? Our online quotes also include skip hire permit costs, which doesn’t matter if you have your own land or space on which to place the skip. Our skip hire service can come with skip hire permits that are valid for 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
A number of targets for recycling were set by the Environmental Agency and government. At Norris Birmingham, we acknowledge these set recycling targets and they are as follows: The goal of the Environmental Agency is to secure the protection and improvement of the environment in England and Wales. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The agency aspires to ensure regular improvements in the quality of land, air and water as well. They work towards the control of pollution in the environment and encourage the protection of natural resources like plants and animals. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: No more that 35% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2015. In 2013, only 50% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. Only 75% of the waste taken in 1995 should be taken for landfill sites in the UK in 2010. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
The targets for natural recycling were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. They include:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. 30% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled – while that of each local authority was 30% as of the same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. Here is list of materials that can be recycled: plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges and a lot of others.
