Environmental Agency Recycling Targets
The government and the Environmental Agency have set new targets to be reached by all recycling agencies. We at Norris Three-Mile-Cross acknowledge these targets and here they are: The Environmental Agency’s duty is to protect and better the environment of England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and that other environmental services they have to offer get to the areas where they are needed. The quality of water, air, and land is continuously improved by the Environmental Agency. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. That’s not all! The body also enlightens the general populace on issues regarding the environment, improving waste removal standards, encouraging the recycling of household products to reduce the quantity of waste, and lots more. You can contact the Environmental Agency office in your region, or visit the head office in Bristol at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. Government Targets already have a landfill directive issued to this effect. It reflects the goals of reducing the quantity of waste sent to landfill spots in the country. Starting from the most recent year, these are the targets: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. By 2010, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 45% of waste is to be recovered as of 2010, while 67% and 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2015 and 2005 respectively. The government published the natural recycling targets by the Waste Strategy 2000. These targets include: The target projects that, as of 2015, 33% of household waste should either be recycled or composted. By the year 2010, 30% of household waste should be either recycled or it should be composted. By the year 2005, 25% of household waste should either be recycled or it should be composted and 30% was set for each local authority in 2005. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was issued by the government to assist local authorities in more recycling, reduction of waste, and for landfill diversions. Clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, and so on, and a few others were included in the list of products to be recycled. We understand all of these factors on skip hiring pricing at Norris Three-Mile-Cross, and we have taken it upon ourselves to briefly help you understand as well. Regional Pricing – skip hire costs are different in each region. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Three-Mile-Cross. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Issues with renting skips in Three-Mile-Cross
At Norris Three-Mile-Cross, we understand that getting the perfect skip to hire can be a herculean task – especially with the difficulties that comes with getting a skip hire permit. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Three-Mile-Cross. We know that the growing population in Three-Mile-Cross will mean a more difficult skip hiring process soon. Alternative to kip hiring and getting a hire permit, our waste disposal services are available for your use.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. People who only do waste disposals from personal gardens were not included in getting the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. If an applicant wishes to own a new site, they have to show how “technically competent” they are by possessing the (WAMITAB) certificate, this is the the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Skip hire permits have to be obtained when you need to use land that isn’t your property to place your skip. Federal highways, streets, government roads, and land owned by any third party are those that require skip hire permits. You can use your own land or space without a skip hire permit if you have it, only ensuring you don’t cross into land that isn’t yours. Intruding on another person’s land, privacy or space may get you fined, or the skip may be removed and seized. With £20, you can get a skip hire permit, but charges may differ because of the skip size or council who issue the permit. There are also skip hire permits that cost £60, £80, and even as much as £100. The council office is a good place to get all the pricing details you need. However, it’s our duty at Norris Three-Mile-Cross to make your skip hire a smooth process. Why bother then with getting a skip hire permit when we can get it done for you, along with delivering the skip you hire? When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. Call us today on 020 8698 8000 and we will provide you with any details you might need on our skip hire permits and waste management services.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
There are recycling targets put in place by the Environmental Agency and government. We uphold these set recycling rules at Norris Three-Mile-Cross and you can find them below: The Environmental Agency is on a mission to make sure the environment in England and Wales is improved and protected. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. It doesn’t stop at that! They also provide enlightenment for people on better waste control methods such as recycling household waste. You can reach the Environmental agency at their office in your region, their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD, or call them on 08 708 506 506. To handle Government Targets, a landfill directive was issued. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. Inclusions were made for landfills to only take treated waste from 2007. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2015 should make up 33% of total waste. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. A ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was set up by the government to move the efforts of the local authorities towards more recycling and reduction of waste, and for landfill diversion. Recyclable materials include the following and more: metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, wood, clinical waste electricals and electronics, computers, and composting
