Government Issued Recycling Targets
The government and the Environmental Agency have set new targets to be reached by all recycling agencies. Norris Whitley-Wood recognizes these targets and they are: The English and Welsh environment is protected and improved upon by the Environmental Agency. They ensure that their targets are met while also offering other environmental services to areas that need them, by working with several other government organisations and local authorities. It is also their mission to raise the quality of water, land, and air constantly. They control environmental pollution, and also encourage the conservation of animals, plants and other natural resources by implementing certain efforts towards these goals. There is more! The Environmental Agency is determined to educate the people on anything to do with the environment, improve waste disposal standards, and improve the recycling of household items in order to reduce their quantity. Get in touch with the Environmental Agency office in your location, or you can find the head office in Bristol Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. A landfill directive has been released in relation to Government Targets. The directive released contains government targets aimed at reducing the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK. The targets, as of the most recent year, include: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2013. That waste quantity taken to landfill sites be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: 45% of all waste should be recovered by the end of 2010, 67% of waste should be recovered by 2015, while 40% of waste be recovered as of 2005. The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. Composting and recycling should be carried out on 30% of household waste as at 2010. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. Local authorities can now be assisted to do more recycling through the government issued “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” which will also help reduce waste and landfill diversion. Here is a list of recyclable materials: computers, printer cartridges, glass, oil, electrical and electronics, furniture, batteries, paper, vehicles, clinical waste, metal, and a variety of others. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. At Norris Whitley-Wood, we understand these factors and will briefly explain them to you. Regional Pricing – hiring a skip will cost something different in different regions. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in Whitley-Wood. Pricing is also influenced by how long you want to keep the skip, the more time you want it, the higher the cost would likely be. Also bearing in mind that skip hire permits only last for a set period of time as well. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. You need to know about what limitations or restrictions your skip hire service provider may have. Some items are prohibited from being put in the skips, find out what they are, and obey the restrictions so you don’t get a fine or sanction.
Issues with renting skips in Whitley-Wood
We know at Norris Whitley-Wood that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. The following concerns may be attached to skip hiring in Whitley-Wood: local council laws, double yellow lines, small gardens, narrow paths, congestion zones, limited front space, red routes, and pedestrian only lanes. At the rate at which Whitley-Wood is growing in population, skip hiring will become more and more difficult. You don’t have to worry about skip hiring and acquiring a permit, we can provide waste disposal services instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
For “controlled waste” deposit, recovery and removal regulation, a new waste licensing system replaced the 1974 Control of Pollution Act in 1994. Controlled wastes are wastes from industrial, commercial, and household processes in solid or liquid form. The license is not needed by those who only dispose of waste from their personal gardens. To acquire the permit, all applicants need to show they are fit to hold it. The Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate is often presented by people applying to own new sites, to show they are “technically competent”.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. It was stated in the Act that “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” How waste is disposed of is controlled by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. In regards to the land or space you would be placing the skip on that isn’t yours, you need a skip hire permit. It could be land that belongs to a third party, a federal highway, government road, or along the street. However, if you have a piece of land or property to place the skip in, and you are sure that it won’t intrude on council land or someone else’s property, then you won’t have to get a skip permit. Your skip could be removed and seized, however, if it extends into land that isn’t yours or that of those involved in your project, you even be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. There are also skip hire permits that cost £60, £80, and even as much as £100. Any questions you have on pricing can be answered at the local council office. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Whitley-Wood. So why go through the stress of getting a skip hire permit when we can get it for you, while we deliver the skip you require? When you request an online quote, we include the cost of getting a permit, which will not be necessary if you have land of your own to place the skip in. We can get skip hire services along with permits that have up to 14 day validity. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.

Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. We recognize these recycling targets at Norris Whitley-Wood and here they are: The mission of the Environmental Agency is to ensure the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. There are several government organisations and local authorities they work with to ensure that their targets are met, and other environmental services they have to offer get to areas where they are needed. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. That isn’t even all! The body provides public education on environmental matters as well, supporting the recycling of household waste to reduce the quantity. You can visit them at their office in your region, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. You can also call them on 08 708 506 506. A landfill directive was released to address Government Targets. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used in landfills in the UK by 2015 shouldn’t exceed 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2010 shouldn’t exceed 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy 2000 included the following targets, as a way of making sure waste is recovered and the landfill directive is reached: Of all the waste, 67% should be recovered in 2015, 45% of it recovered in 2010, and 40% of it recovered in 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
33% of household waste has to be composted or recycled in 2015. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. No less than 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2005, local authorities were set at 30% for the same year. The government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to help local authorities recycle more, reduce waste, and for landfill diversions. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
