Environmental Agency Recycling Targets
The government and the Environmental Agency have set new targets to be reached by all recycling agencies. Norris Lower-Caversham experts recognize these targets, which are: The English and Welsh environment is protected and improved upon by the Environmental Agency. The Environmental Agency does not meet its targets or offer other environmental services to areas that need it all alone, because they partner with several other local authorities and organisations to achieve these goals. The quality of water, air, and land is continuously improved by the Environmental Agency. They implement efforts to control environmental pollution, and further encourage the conservation of plants, animals, and other natural resources. There are still other things! Among other things, the body enlightens the general populace on environmental issues, promotes the recycling of household products to decrease their piling up in large quantities, and educates on raising the standards of waste removal. Get in touch with the Environmental Agency office in your location, or you can find the head office in Bristol Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. Telephone: 08708 506 506. Concerning the targets set by the government, they have released a directive. It reflects the goals of reducing the quantity of waste sent to landfill spots in the country. Taking effect from the most recent year, the targets include: Waste quantity taken to landfill sites should be 35% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2015. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 50% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2013. The waste taken to landfill spots in the UK should be 75% of the amount taken in 1995 by 2010. The following targets were also introduced by the Waste Strategy of 2000 to recover waste and help in achieving the landfill directive: 67% of waste should be recovered as of 2015, 45% of waste should be recovered as at 2010, 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. Below are the targets: Composting and recycling should be carried out on 33% of household waste as of 2015. By 2010, 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. Local authorities can now be assisted to do more recycling through the government issued “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” which will also help reduce waste and landfill diversion. Materials like batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electrical and electronics, vehicles, wood, clinical waste, building materials, and so on, have been listed as recyclable. To keep yourself updated on any of the latest additions to the targets, especially for the upcoming years, you can visit the Norris Lower-Caversham office at Lower-Caversham.

Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
There a couple of factors that should be taken into consideration when hiring a skip. All these factors are well understood by us at Norris Lower-Caversham and we are going to make them clear to you. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. You might get a skip at £50 in London, for instance, and get the same skip size for £20 in Lower-Caversham. The longer you need to hold on to a skip, the more expensive the skip will be, because pricing is affected by time as well. Not also forgetting that skip hire permits have a duration too. Limitations and Restrictions – no matter the size of a skip, it will still have a weight limit. Ask your skip hire service provider if they have restrictions on their skips. Also, make enquiries about products that shouldn’t be put in it. Obey these restrictions to avoid any sanctions or fines.
Issues with renting skips in Lower-Caversham
We know at Norris Lower-Caversham that hiring the right skip can be exhausting- more so if it involves getting a skip hire permit. Issues to be considered when hiring a skip in Lower-Caversham are local council laws, red routes, double yellow lines, narrow paths, congestion zones, small front space, pedestrian only lanes and red routes. We are also aware of the increasing population in Lower-Caversham, which will mean increased difficulty in skip hiring in the near future. You don’t have to worry about skip hiring and acquiring a permit, we can provide waste disposal services instead.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
The Control of Pollution Act of 1974 was replaced by a new waste licensing system in 1994 to regulate the deposit, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Controlled waste refers to liquid or solid industrial, commercial, and household wastes. If you only do personal garden waste removal, however, you do not require the license. Proof of fitness to hold the license determines if it will be granted. Applications for new site ownership need to be accompanied by the Waste Management Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate as proof of “technical competence”.
Section 34 of the act includes the duty of care for people who are part of creating, bringing in, conveying, storing, treating, and removing controlled waste. The Act stated as follows: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” There are also the special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005, that regulates how waste should be disposed of.
Skip Hire Permits
To place a skip for a construction project on any public land, you need a skip hire permit. Using land that is not yours to place the skip means you must have a skip hire permit. These lands include federal highways and government roads, third party owned lands, and land along streets. If you have land or property you intend to used, you don’t need a skip hire permit, as long as it won’t intrude on land that isn’t yours. But, if you place a skip in a position that infringes on the privacy of another person not involved in your project, the skip might be removed and seized, or you could even be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. We want to ensure you have a much easier skip hire process at Norris Lower-Caversham. You don’t need the hassle involved with getting a skip hire permit because we can get it for you as we deliver your choice of skip. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. The permits we provide with skip hire services last as long as 14 days. We can be reached today on 020 8698 8000 if you want to know more about skip hire permits and other services we have in place for you.

Therefore, if you need a closed or open skip, you can rely on us to make it available to you with proof of efficiency and quality. Alternatively, you can visit us at our office in Lower-Caversham and we will make the tested skip of your choice available – with certificate.
At Norris Lower-Caversham, we allow a large variety of waste to be put in our skips. But there are restrictions on certain products, and they are not allowed in our skips. We can just take them and get them treated for you – depending on how safe those materials are. Medical waste, gas canisters, air conditioning units, heavy duty batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, television sets, refrigerators, and aerosols are prohibited from being in our skips.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
For a while now, there have been recycling targets set by the Environmental Agency and government. These targets are upheld by us at Norris Lower-Caversham and here they are: The Environmental Agency aims to make sure the Englands’ and Wales’ environment can improve and is protected. There are many government organisations and local authorities that have the duty of making sure these targets are achieved and the services they have available get to the environments that need them. This agency also works to regularly improve the quality of water, land and air. They implement steps that aim to control pollution in the environment, encouraging efforts towards preserving natural resources as well. It doesn’t stop at that! They also provide enlightenment for people on better waste control methods such as recycling household waste. The agency can be contacted on 08 708 506 506, or by their office in your region. You can also visit their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. It states how much the quantity of waste need to be lowered for the purpose of landfills in certain areas of the UK. It added as well that landfills from 2007 should only take waste that has been treated. The targets are as follows from the most recent year: In 2015, only 35% of the waste collected for filling UK landfill sites in 1995 should be collected. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2013 should be 50% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2010 should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. In addition to that, the Waste Strategy 2000 introduced the following targets, to recover waste and meet the landfill directive: 67% of the waste must be recovered by 2015, 45% must be recovered by 2010, and 40% must be recovered by 2005.
Natural recycling targets were published by the government in Waste Strategy 2000 and are:
By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. No less than 30% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2010. 25% of household waste must be composted or recycled as of 2005, even though local authorities had a 30% target in the same year. To help the local authorities recycle more and reduce waste and for landfill diversions, a “Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” was released by the government. The following materials can be recycled: wood, clinical waste, metal, building materials, batteries, paper, printer, cartridges, plastic, electricals and electronics, computers, composting, and various others.
