Skip Hire sizes
Our skips are available for hire in different sizes. We have skip sizes to meet your exact specifications, be it home removal or office clearing. If you need a small skip size like a 2 yard, or a big one of 12 yards, either way we have you covered. We have skip sizes in 2 yard, 4 yard, 6 yard, 8 yard, 10 yard, and 12 yard.
- 4 Yard Skip Hire The 4 yard skip is also available for hire at Norris Little-Heath. The 4 yard skip is two times bigger in holding space than the 2 yard skip, and is 0.90meters long. It has a width of 1.5m by 2.5m, making it suitable for larger items such as electronics, furniture, bathroom and kitchen refits, and appliances. It has enough space for 45 to 50 black waste bags, and a little over 17 full barrow loads of waste. If you are thinking of DIY projects or garden clearance, this would be a splendid choice.
- 6 Yard Skip Hire The 6 yard skip is a very useful tool to have for home extensions and office renovation projects. Builders waste like pavers stones, concrete, and soil can be moved with the 6 yard skip, which is available at Norris Little-Heath. It works excellently for stashing away heavy waste and materials such as soil and stones. With a width of about 1.8m by 2.3m, this skip can take about 75 to 95 black disposal bags, or up to 30 full barrow loads of building waste. This skip is probably the most used around your area.
- 8 Yard Skip Hire We also hire out 8 yard skips, which are best used for extensive projects. The only difference between the 8 yard and 6 yard skip is that it can contain more items. It’s around 1.9m by 3.4m wide, but it can take almost 20% more than what the 6 yard skip can. 100-115 black disposable bags can fit well into the 8 yard skip, as can 40 barrow loads of soil, concrete, and other builders waste. If you’re doing a massive home removal, the 8 yard skip would be a perfect choice.
- 10 Yard Skip Hire This skip works perfectly in large garden clearance and home removals. If you’re handling a commercial project, the 2.1m by 3.6m wide skip is available for hire at Norris Little-Heath. It can take as many as 52 full barrow loads of commercial waste, or 120-140 big waste bags at any time. It works perfectly for large scale site clearance, home removals, and other projects.
- 12 Yard Skip Hire The 12 yard skip is ideal for industrialized projects. If you need a skip large enough to be used for large scale waste disposal during site or office clearance or commercial projects, the 12 skip yard we have for hire at Norris Little-Heath is be perfect. With a width of 2.5m by 4.0m, this skip is also long enough to contain 150–185 black disposable bags at any time. The space in this skip is large enough for more than 62 full barrow loads of slabs, concrete, and more building waste.

That the amount of waste taken to landfill spots in the UK by 2013 be only 50% of the amount taken in 1995. By 2010, the waste taken to landfill sites around the United Kingdom should be 75% of what was taken in 1995. The Waste Strategy of 2000 introduced the following targets to aid waste recovery and to make the landfill directive achievable: As at 2015, 67% of waste should be recovered, 45% of waste should be recovered as of 2010, while 40% of waste should be recovered as of 2005. Contained in the Waste Strategy 2000 are the natural recycling targets published by the government. These targets were: By 2015, 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled. By the year 2010, 30% of household waste should be either recycled or it should be composted. By 2005, 25% of household waste should be composted or recycled, while that of each local authority was 30% as in the same year. To assist local authorities in recycling more waste, reducing waste, and for landfill diversion, the government issued a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant”. Other Skip Hire Pricing Factors
Some factors are important to look into when hiring a skip. We at Norris Little-Heath understand these skip hire pricing factors, and we have decided to give you a brief explanation of each of them. Regional Pricing – the cost of hiring a skip differs from region to region. A skip that would cost you £50 in London, for instance, may cost you less in Little-Heath. The length of time you want the skip for will also affect its pricing; the longer you want it for, the higher the cost. Taking into consideration that skip hire permits have a time duration. Limitations and Restrictions – you can’t always put a huge amount of weight in a skip just because it looks big. Ask about restrictions on the skip you’re hiring from your service provider. Also, make enquiries about products that shouldn’t be put in it. Obey these restrictions to avoid any sanctions or fines.
Issues with renting skips in Little-Heath
Skip hire is not always easy, you have to get the right one, and there’s more stress if you need a permit- we know all of this at Norris Little-Heath. Narrow paths, local council laws, small gardens, double yellow lines, red routes, pedestrian only lanes, congestion zones, limited space in front, and narrow paths are the issues which usually come up with skip renting in Little-Heath. We know that the growing population in Little-Heath will mean a more difficult skip hiring process soon. However, you can make use of our rubbish removal services, instead of worrying about renting a skip and hustling for a skip hire permit.
Skip Hire Rules and regulations
A new waste licensing system was put in place in 1994 to replace the Control of Pollution Act of 1974 on the regulation of deposits, recovery, and removal of “controlled waste”. Liquid or solid waste from industrial, commercial, and household processes are called controlled wastes. However, people who are just disposing of waste from their personal garden were exempted from the need of the license. Anyone applying for the license has to show proof that they can handle it. Applications for new site ownership need to be accompanied by the Waste Management Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB) certificate as proof of “technical competence”.
People who create, bring in, convey, store, treat, or remove controlled waste were given a new duty of care in section 34 of the Act. The following was stated in the Act: “any escape or waste must be avoided, waste can only be moved to an authorized person, the waste being transferred should go with a written description or you will be penalized.” Waste disposal methods are regulated by special waste regulations 1996 and the hazardous waste regulations 2005.
Skip Hire Permits
You need a skip hire permit if you want to hire a skip for a construction project and will have to place it on public land. Skip hire permits are necessary for situations where you need to place a skip on a piece of land or in a space that isn’t yours. This land could be a federal highway, government road, a street, or could be owned by a third party. A skip hire isn’t necessary when you have land to use and won’t be crossing into another person’s land or government owned land. If you happen to cross into someone else’s land who isn’t a part of your project, or invade another person’s privacy with the skip, it could be seized or you could be fined. For as low as £20 you can get a skip hire permit – depending on the size of the skip and the council that is issuing the permit to you at the time. Some skip hire permits cost higher than £20, possibly £60, £80, and up to £100. You can contact the council office to find out more about the pricing if you wish. At Norris Little-Heath, we consider it our responsibility to ease your skip hire process. We also provide skip hire permit procurement along with skip delivery to make the whole process stress free. Request an online quote and we will include the cost of getting a skip hire permit, which would be excluded, of course, if you have property to use. The permits we have available alongside our skip hire services can serve for up to 14 days. We are always available on 020 8698 8000 to provide you with details on skip hire and other waste disposal services we have.
Tested skips with certificate
It is not unusual for you to be nervous about how safe and effective it will be to use a skip if you’re hiring for the first time. At Norris Little-Heath, we make sure you get the skip size you want, and make sure they are tested with certificates. Therefore, if you need a closed or open skip, you can rely on us to make it available to you with proof of efficiency and quality. We can be reached as well on 020 8698 8000, and our experts will provide any details you need. Another option is to come by our Little-Heath office and we will provide the tested skip you want with certificate.
Several waste types are allowed in our skips at Norris Little-Heath. There are products, however, that are prohibited from being put in our skips. We can provide you with treatment services for materials like that, depending on how safe they are. These restricted items are automotive oils and fluids, medical waste, car tyres, heavy duty batteries, gas canisters, television sets, air conditioning units, refrigerators, aerosols, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Recycling Targets/Landfill Policy
The Environmental Agency and government have been setting recycling targets for some time now. We recognize these recycling targets at Norris Little-Heath and here they are: The aim of the Environmental Agency is to see to the improvement and protection of the environment in England and Wales. A lot government organisations and local authorities are in place to make sure they reach their targets, and that areas that need environmental services get the ones they have to offer. The Environmental Agency also strives to improve the quality of water, land, and air continuously. They set up systems to regulate environmental pollution, and also promote the preservation of plants, animals and other natural resources. They don’t stop there either! The body works to educate the general populace on environmental issues to improve waste handling standards, by encouraging more recycling of waste in the household to cut down on overall waste quantity. You can visit them at their office in your region, or their head office at Rio House, Waterside Drive, Almondsbury BS32 4UD. You can also call them on 08 708 506 506. As for Government Targets, a landfill directive was released. The amount of waste that requires a reduction for landfilling purposes in the UK is specified. It stated also that from 2007, landfills should only accept treated waste. From the most recent year, the targets are the following: The quantity of waste taken to landfill sites in the UK by 2015 should be 35% of what was taken in 1995. The quantity of waste allowed to be taken and used for landfills in the UK by 2013 shouldn’t exceed 50% of what was taken in 1995. No more that 75% of the waste retrieved to use for landfill sites in the UK should be retrieved by 2010 Also added by the Waste Strategy 2000 were the following targets, to ensure 75% waste recovery and the achievement of the landfill directive, the following waste percentages have to be recovered: 67% in 2015, 45% in 2010 and 40% in 2005.
The natural recycling targets were published in the Waste Strategy 2000 by the government. These targets were:
No less than 33% of household waste should be composted or recycled in 2015. Household waste that is composted or recycled in 2010 should be at 30%. Household waste that is composted or recycled, in 2015, should be 25%, while the local authorities had a 30% target. The government released a ” Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant” to assist in the recycling and reduction of waste and landfill diversions. A list of materials that can be recycled include: wood, vehicles, composting, clinical waste, building materials, batteries, paper, printer cartridges, plastic, furniture, glass, oil, metal, electricals and electronics, computers, and a few others.
